Sometimes you judge a place based on one thing - the food, the wait, the service. Today I had the distinct misfortune to run up to Mr. Taco for some Chalupa's on my lunch break and experience them all in one fail swoop. After more than 25 minutes in the drive thru line, having already paid, sitting in the heat, the line just stalled. Each car was taking more than 10 minutes each to get through the line and with several cars ahead of me and I was on a short lunch break, I decided to jump out of line at the last opportunity and go inside - to almost dead dining room. I tried to explain the problem, to the disinterested young woman at the take out window counter inside the door, she wasn't having it. She seemed to claim that in the few minutes I was in there - my food was given to someone else (like the cars moved that fast) and implied that was me! I ate the food and now wanted a refund or something, now I was suspicious! I went to the car, retrieved my receipt and gave it to her. She refunded the money - and as I left without lunch and no more time to eat before returning to work she calls out "Have a Nice Day!" sarcastically after I just told here I wouldn't be able to have lunch given the time I spent there waiting for the food. I have gone here off and on for years, the food isn't fancy - but some reasonable. staples are available and they have a drive thru. . Never again. I won't recommend- I won't buy for my family. If my time is inconsequential, if grabbing lunch means a frustrating and long argument to get your food or your money, if sarcasm is the employee default , this is a business that doesn't deserve patronage. And it would do them well to remember their patrons are working and have responsibilities too - if the food cannot be made in a reasonable time, they shouldn't be in business. BTW - the cars had not moved upon my leaving, so if someone took the now infamous chalupa platter I had ordered? It was a car in front of me - that's a whole other level of poor management. I'll live skipping one lunch due to their incompetence's, but that's the best thing I can say about my experience with Mr. Taco. That's okay! You be you - the competition will get my money in the future - their are plenty of good places serving the same thing. I spent over half an hour there and was never given any FOOD (that's the biz you know?). Well played, Mr. Taco - well played! Never again for me or mine - but...
Read moreThis is the typical TexMex/Mexican restaurant with bland flavors and no real goal of getting better it seems. When you walk in, there's no sign indicating of you should wait for a host or seat yourself. The only reason I knew what to do was because I watched a group walk in a choose a table. There's a bar area to the right of the first room that looks good and the rest of the place is separated by walls with a main hall in the middle. They have pictures of their specials on the walls and pictures of dishes on their menu. Great for kids and as well as adults to see what their plate will look like. I noticed they had puffy tacos so I ordered those. I was sure they wouldn't compare to the restaurant I first tried them in in San Antonio but wanted to see. My boys got quesadillas. The tea glasses are large which is great. The waitress was nice. The prices were decent. If they priced it all any higher, they'd have to really add flavor to their foods. The quac was tasteless and watery. My taco meat was flavorless and completely greasy and watery. The taco shell was flour I guess. There was no indication that they were corn tacos and fell apart immediately. The food took a while to come out and I noticed people who came in after us for their food faster. Ultimately, it's great to take grandparents who like or need bland food. Anyone with working tastebuds won't like it really. They had CNN playing on the flat screen. I can't imagine that many in a small town in Texas liking CNN and wanting to watch talk about murders and Hillary Clinton. I had better food at the Tex Mex place down the road. My son wouldn't even eat his quesadilla which he never does. He loves them but wouldn't eat theirs at this place.
The tea was good at least and limes were fresh. One star for large tea glasses and another for the nice waitress. None...
Read moreVisited about 6:30 on a Sautrday night in Jan 2022. It's been a few months, so was surprised to be presented a menu with no prices on it. NICELY asked for a menu with prices, assuming maybe it was a printing mistake. Waitress informed me that they had taken off the prices due to COVID. This obviously makes no sense, so I again NICELY asked if they had any that had prices. She went off to see - I guess.
Another waitress came over:
"Sir, WHAT is your PROBLEM?" "Uh, no problem, just want a menu with prices" "We don't have them, just tell me what you want and I'll look it up" "I've got four kids over here, not gonna order them a $15 meal, just give me a ballpark figure for the kids meal and a couple items so we can discuss" "SIR, I'm not going to look up the whole menu for you!"
(not my fault they have literally 100 items on the menu)
Stomps off for some reason, to a nearby computer, I think maybe she'll look something up for me, so I say, again, calmly - "You know, I'll just have this drink to go, just give me the ticket for that" (not in the habit of rewarding nasty attitudes with my hard-earned cash)
"SIR, I am helping these people who got here BEFORE YOU, you'll have to WAIT YOUR TURN!" "On second thought, I'll just leave the drink here." "HAVE A BLESSED DAY, SIR"
Just wow - nasty nasty attitude. The $40-50 we would have spent would have gone a long way toward printing some new menus once a month to accommodate rising prices. Probably won't be back, as the food is only mediocre but it's good for a cheap taco that the kids like. Definitely won't be back before the put some prices...
