Great food but the service is TERRIBLE. I rarely write bad reviews so my experiences really have pushed me to share.
Let me give the back story: My experiences are with phone orders/pick up only. I order lunches for my coworkers, which is usually 2-5 different meals. It's never more than 5 meals because our company is small and less than half the office ever orders lunch. We like to order around 11:30 AM to be able to eat around 12:30. Most of the time, my coworkers pay separately on their credit cards or with cash so we don't have a who owes who thing constantly going on. This is somewhat annoying when it comes to paying, which I completely understand, but it has yet to be a major issue at other places we've ordered at. We've been long time supporters of Sabores, and frequented there about once a week to 3 times a week up until recently
Our company has ordered from Sabores since it opened and has never had issues with service up until recently. We've been told that we couldn't pay with more than three credit cards, and then it switched to only two credit cards and then finally switched to just one form of payment. I feel like this is out of laziness of the cashier rather than a company policy, because of the way it was explained to us on the phone. While this is frustrating for us, we still order here because the food is great - but we order here far less often.
The other experience is what caused me to write this review. I called today to place an order for a couple meals and was immediately told that they were not taking phone orders for another 30 minutes and to call back then. When I asked why, the woman on the phone said that they had received a big order along with some online orders and were unable to handle anymore. I offered to wait longer to pick it up if she could write down the order now, just so I could get the order in the line. She said that would be too hectic for her to manage. I asked if she was the only one there and she said no, but they were too busy and overwhelmed. I then asked if it would be different if I came in and ordered there, and she said the wait time would be 15-20 minutes. I explained that we are trying to social distance so coming in is not really an option, so repeated my offer to wait longer if we could place an order now. She again said no and told me to just call back in a half hour.
I've worked in customer service/retail for 8 years and this response to my job being "hectic" would have gotten me fired on the spot. I don't believe the customer is always right, but I do believe that you should never turn away business. Instead of telling call-in phone orders to just call back and risking their return business, she could have written down the orders and given a wait time of 45 minutes to an hour or more. It's going to be a while before we think of coming...
Read moreSabores used to a great place dine at their old location. Unfortunately, their service, food and presentation has gone down the drain since their re location at the event center.
Today I had my worse experience to date. Starting once I placed my order and sat down I asked my waitress if I could have the WiFi password because I was getting terrible reception and to my surprise they told me they don’t have one a WiFi network, as I am starring at their Network WiFi on my phone named after their restaurant.
Next I got my appetizer, the chicken satay. Apparently not only does Sabores skimp you out their WiFi but also their meat, these chicken breast on a skewer were cut as thin as a slice of paper.
Then I placed two empanadas orders, one to dine and one to go. Pretty safe bet to order empanada right? Well it should of been a GIGANTIC red flag when I saw on the menu that their only option for empanadas was shredded beef. Once I dug into my meal the dough was burnt and tasted old, the meat and vegetables inside had zero to no flavor and had be soaked in the chimi sauce in order to have some flavor and hide from the terrible taste the dough was providing.
Out of the many times I’ve been to Sabores, I can confidently say that their move was a huge mistake. The one one good thing sabores does is their American food menu but if you’re looking for ethnic food I highly recommend visiting the many ethnic restaurants that cache valley had as a substitute. Not only will you find better food with better taste and seasoning but for the fraction of the price.
Lastly, this was my mistake. Getting the 2nd order of empanadas before I tasted them, because I thought it myself “how can you mess up empanadas?” Once I had a taste of them I left my table and asked if my order for the to go could be cancel or exchanged for something else, best they could do was give me 20% off for my next purchase, but that was rather useless as I will not be...
Read moreUpdated Review Sabores is my favorite place to eat on the valley! This is where we take all of our visitors when they come to town! Obviously things got way better since my first review. The Butter Chicken is my favorite. It is just so good! The Peanut Butter Burger is superb! The Lomo Saltado is a must! The Tom Yum Noodles are delectable! Tha Havana is OMG! My husband loves the curry but that is the only dish I find lacking flavor. Their fries are Awesome! Oooh their ceviche was so fresh and delicious the one time we got it. I seriously love this place.
Service...me. No one smiles or really greets you. They just aren't very friendly. But I don't care because the food is!
We loved all the different choices from different countries around the world. I wish they had some tapas/smaller plate options or kid's meal options. There was plenty of seating when we went on a Wednesday night as only one other family was there. We got the Chicken Curry from India, the Bahn Mi sandwich from Vietnam, the Club Sandwich from the good ol US of A, and the chicken satay from Thailand. It was all good but also not rave worthy. Good food and a decent price...I think 8.50 per entree...but nothing that left us dying to go back for more. With that said I still want to go back and try some other options. The service was superb! If you want good Indian curry go to Tandoori Oven and try something else from here. Both sandwiches were great...they have hand cut fries that were very good. They have a nice selection of imported beverages too. So I definitely think Sabores is worth a shot and we will give it another...
