It was my first time trying Kai sushi, the food was average nothing special but decent. I ordered a smoothie about halfway through my meal and they did not deliver it until after I paid the check and was on my way out the door. I took one sip of the smoothie and spit it out it tasted like rancid milk. I re entered the restaurant and very politely asked to swap out the smoothie for a soda. I was very apologetic and I never return food unless it literally inedible. The waitress was understanding and helpful. However she had to ask her manager, the manager was extremely disrespectful to both myself and her own coworkers. She grabbed the full smoothie out of my hand and threw it in a dirty dishes bin being held by a worker, spilling some of it on the floor and the dishwashers had to clean it up. If that wasn’t enough I asked to see a list of the Japanese sodas to try and she sighed loudly rolled her eyes and stomped over to grab a menu for me. She walks back shoves the menu at me and asks what I wanted, then attempted to point out which drink I wanted when the manager pushes the menu into my chest and actually PHYSICALLY SHOVES me out of her way. She walks out of the kitchen with 2 bowls of soups and serves it to a table. The waitress and I were both Standing there in shock and disbelief. Eventually the waitress took my order and apologized. I kept my cool and did not make a scene but I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a restaurant employee, especially after being served sub par food. The food was okay but after the way I was treated I will definitely not be returning, there are plenty of better sushi restaurants in the area with better customer service and atmosphere. Also the restaurant and dishes/silverware were generally unclean and all of the workers seemed to be anxious and over worked likely due to...
Read moreThe sushi is good, not great. It is conveyor/rotary belt style dining. As plates of already made sushi and appetizers pass by on the belt you can pick up whatever looks appetizing to you. The color of the plate determines price, ranging from $1.50 to $5.50. The plates aren't very filling so you definitely will need to grab a few different plates. Each plate typically comes with 3-5 pieces of maki style sushi roll. Appetizers go around along with sashimi style bites as well. The sushi is good for what you pay for. The flavors do however turn out to be somewhat bland. The choices are great, but the execution of flavor definitely cannot be compared to a nicer sushi restaurant. The fish is the rolls itself looks like it is lower quality. The fish is dark and not "prime" cuts. There are a lot of toppings which are used to mask the lower quality fish. I've been to a lot of sushi restaurants, and this is definitely mediocre. However, don't get me wrong it's good for the money and worth it for a local bite to eat or a cheap date night. The hot sake was decent, but definitely a lower end quality brand. The service was good and fast. The servers were attentive, but they can come off as a little brash. They went from nice at first to giving off a negative vibe as our dining experience went on. The restaurant isn't all that big, but there are plenty of seats mostly in the form of booths. The higher priced plates are worth it as you get better quality and better tasting rolls. There is also a menu where you can order from. There is a full bar for drink options as well. Parking is ample. The restaurant is clean. Bathrooms are clean. I would recommend this place for a cheap bite to eat, but beware you get what...
