Shawarma Express is an excellent place to have a top quality meal anytime. We each tried the lunch special Chicken kefta kabob and it didn’t disappoint. The kabobs were full of flavor and generously portioned. The rice pilaf that accompanied the special was fluffy packed with flavorful.
We had to come back to try the lamb shank and the lamb chops dinners. You can order anything on their menu anytime of day lunch or diner! You don’t need to go anywhere else for a very high end meal- it’s here and very economical! All the food is halal, cooked fresh, generously portioned and full of traditional middle eastern flavors beyond what we imagined.
The lamb- where do I begin? It was perfectly seasoned, as tender and delicious and the BEST IN THE AREA! We haven’t had lamb this good since we left Greece. 10 stars!
We also ordered falafel’s that were crispy on the outside, perfectly sized and not a bit oily. Not overly seasoned and served piping hot!
All the sauces; toum, tahini and the red sauce had their own authentic flavors. The red sauce was a wonderful blend of mint, cilantro, fresh ground tomato and herbs that gives additional flavor to the already excellent tender melt in your mouth lamb.
Several great experiences we had coming here and will continue. Mohammed the owner takes special care and pride in the food. He’s very passionate about the authentic middle eastern cuisine he’s offering to customers at his restaurant. Thank you for wonderful meals that...
Read moreI work in the food industry and I drive around a lot so whenever I am for lunch I like to try new places. I visited Shawarma Express and ordered chicken shawarma sandwich and it comes with chopped pickles and sliced tomatoes on the side, no fork on the table or nowhere to grab one, maybe the lady behind the counter should throw one in the plate instead of being on the phone. If you offer fries on your plates wouldn't you offer ketchup bottles at the tables or have them visible instead of one in the cooler. Speaking of the lady she definitely doesnt know the definition of customer service. I decided to order falafel as well just to try it because I like to compare food when I try new places, limy and greasy and not cooked through. The food was ok, I had better in chicago land but everyone has their own taste. For me it was little to much lemon or lime in the sanwich and in falafel. I do not like that they make the sanwich in a tortilla and than they cut in four pieces and falls apart you cant add any hot sauce in it. The reason of my two start is more about the service and the careless ladie that looked like one of the owners and the cleanliness. I sat at a table by the window and the dirt and flys build on the edges didnt help with my appetite. for the food I give them three. Wish you...
Read moreI was was one of the first customers to visit this location when they opened in 2015 and I was pleased with my first visits there when the owner took my order and ensured that it was correct and fresh but a few months later I came in and ordered the chicken schwarma plate and while waiting for my order I overheard other customers saying the chicken was bad so I approached the counter and asked if I could replace my order since the two gentleman sitting next to me had their food replaced but the female that took my order was so rude and stated the chicken was fine and I couldn't replace mine with beef. I asked for a refund because I wasn't about to eat bad chicken but was told I couldn't get a refund either. Im a postal worker stopping by on my way to work in uniform and being treated like crap so I know how the average customer would fair here. The cooks had to keep telling her how to treat me but she couldn't make herself show me any respect so a cook came and issued me a refund because she refused to and walked away. I will never return especially with so many other better options so close. Halal is supposed to be the best but here...
