Common Room Roasters (CRR) is a specialty coffee establishment [hidden in Newport Beach]. Inspired by the sensational Melbourne coffee culture, CRR is housed within a contemporary brick building, next door to the international strategic agency Passport. With roughly a dozen stools inside and live tunes played-out on the weekend, this is an animal-friendly environment where you can feed your stomach as well as your soul. Whether you want to sit at the communal table tapping away on your laptop or chew the fat with your friends at a two-seat table against the butt glass walls, CRR can cater towards your liking.
The owner and captain steering this ship is Ed Moffatt. Ed uses the freshest beans from all over the world - Ethiopia, Kenya, Costa Rica to Melbourne, etc... Ed (and his excellent baristas) know their beans and are happy to help you choose something that will suit your flavourful profile. There's also a small menu of simple foods; albeit the team is seriously focused on all things coffee. They roast it themselves, which is quite a sight and smell. Rumor has it, that in the near future CRR will host educational tasting courses for those interested in the complete roasting process. You can kickstart your coffee addiction by purchasing a bag of freshly packaged beans, plus the necessary tools to brew a fresh cup of joe at your home. Furthermore, CRR has a growing retail space where you purchase awesome products that make great gifts for friends and family, such as the Memobottle!
From the new 2017 renovations, you can sense that Common Room Roasters has an ambitious coffee operation with plans for world domination. I personally drive 30 minutes from home to start my mornings off with a strong poured latte. Ask for their award-winning 'Americas...

Coffee: 9/10 I got the vanilla latte and it came out good! It was pretty earthy which I didnāt mind, but isnāt something I particularly enjoy when drinking coffee. I opted to pay extra for the macadamia nut milk since Iāve never tried it, so this may have provided the different flavor to the coffee I wasnāt expecting. Overall I still enjoyed the coffee āļø
Service: 10/10 The gentleman working here today was very polite and patient, he didnāt seem to mind helping me choose an item since I havenāt been here before. My coffee was made fairly quickly and I didnāt have to wait long at all.
Ambiance: 10/10 Not a lot of seating, but enjoy for a small crowd. Some of the chairs are very low to the ground, so not good for people with bad knees. But they have three tall chairs and outside seating that would work for people. Very clean and quaint, they also have some coffee related goods for sale.
The only thing that will keep me from coming back is the price. Itās only one size of drinks and mine cost $6.50 and is pretty small. I hate to complain because I know small businesses donāt have the luxury of lowering their prices. The quality of the coffee and service will make me consider coming back when I want a real cup of coffee over the overly-extra drinks at other...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe common place is a commonly good place. Positive high quality coffee great atmosphere and music beautiful on the inside and out. really great customer service super friendly staff really nice and open doesn't feel crowded self serve water ( also staff will get you some which is great)
Negative high prices parking automatic poor over machine as of this date does not roast there own coffee although there are going to soon
All in all its a pretty great place and some people wouldn't mind the prices and the things I thought were negative, but when there is no drip coffee which I understand, but they use a pour over machine, that is lame in my opinion. And there is other coffee shops that produce quality at lower prices and roast there own coffee. Still would recommend...
