I had an ok tea time here. I went twice and the first time was great, food and service was outstanding. The atmosphere compared to the other tea houses like Chado tea room in torrance or Huntington tea house is a little less fancy, but their most expensive tea service is around $50 while the others are closer to $75 so whatever. They have a fantastic selection of teas and a good variety of veggie options.
I had read online that they had a 90 minute limit but we went on a Friday morning and literally not another table was taken in the entire restaurant so I didn’t really think anything of it. It was a group of girlfriends and we were chatting away, and then our server came over and told us our 90 minute time was up and we needed to leave. I found it a little rude since clearly there wasn’t anyone waiting for our table, but we left.
The next time we came they didn’t kick us out, but there was a birthday going on in the back room and there’s no really division of noise or anything as it’s just a divider between the private kids party and the rest of the restaurant. It took about an hour to get our sandwiches and I think the staff was stretched thin between the party and the patrons. But the teas were good and the sandwiches were standard.
All and all an alright time, got to dress up with my family and girlfriends and have a chill time. I’d just ask why the 90 minute limit when both times I went the restaurant had no more than 2 out of 10...
Read moreWe went at 1pm on a Saturday with a group of four, every other table in the place was groups of 10 or more and it was unbelievably loud. Louder than your average restaurant - it felt more like a cafeteria.
The server was decent and attentive but everything took really long, likely because she was waiting on 3 other huge tables at the same time. I think more servers and some way to dampen the noise would have made our experience better.
Also, we got two of the high tea for two and there was only one of each dessert. It just felt a little silly to have to fight over/share one bite of dessert. The tea itself was really weak (although the butterscotch was tasty) and the refills are just refills of hot water, not tea.
Really cute decorations here but I think this place is more meant for children's birthday parties. Overall it could have been worse and it was still a cute way to spend an afternoon if your expectations are low. I would give it 3.5 if there was a half...
Read moreIf you are in Long Beach, and have an hour... I was on vacation visiting beautiful Southern California, mainly Los Angeles and this cute little gem stood out to me. From the moment I entered this tea room my inner princess came out. I was in love from the first step. The inside is so adorable and wonderfully decorated. The atmosphere is everything you want for a tea party. The host was incredible, and had such a high level of enthusiasm and imagination for business. She will truly give you a fun experience while drinking tea. The tea menu was large and diverse. The food was warm and fresh. I had freshly made scones and an apple cereal bar. DELICIOUS! In the back, there is a private party room. If you have a group of little girls this would make a great princess birthday venue! Thank you for a great lunch and...
