I just visited East Coast Bagel in Long Beach and was greeted with a friendly welcome and an initial promise that my order would be ready in 10 minutes. But as I waited outside, the experience took a turn. I was approached aggressively by a homeless person, and upon stepping back inside, was surprised to find this individual seated in the restaurant without making a purchase. While I understand the need to treat everyone with respect, allowing behavior that impacts other customers negatively can detract from the overall experience. Then there was the bagel itself. I ordered an everything bagel, but what I got looked closer to sesame. The lox was overly smoked, masking any fresh flavor, and at $19 for a bagel and a canned drink, the value just wasn’t there. I’ve enjoyed many bagels in NYC that cost far less and delivered far more. There’s potential here—a warm greeting, and clearly a place that cares. But attention to the customer experience and quality of ingredients would go a long way.

As a native east coaster can’t fully support more than $1 for adding cream cheese HOWEVER at least they add a very good amount. Delicious and reliable. Fast and friendly. Smells divine in here. Bagels are both fluffy and crispy (I got the cheddar jalepano) If it was less filling I woulda tried to egg as well but I’ll have to come back for that one. Super cinnamon looks so good too 😻 It’s also very clean and well air conditioned which I really appreciate. I hate waiting and eating when it’s really hot tbh. Indoor and outdoor seating, cold drinks, coffee, and take home cream cheese containers available. My only complaint about this place is it’s not walking distance from my house but it is next to target so that’s nice 😅 If you prefer bagels with butter get the butter not the margarine but that’s good advice for all places and situations

Waking up this morning I found myself with a yearning for really good bagel but I was just visiting the area and wasn't sure where to go. using Google maps I located East coast bakery, on the West coast! and what a jewel it is the staff is super friendly and accommodating a great selection of coffees and of course a great selection of bagels. I definitely suggest the Western bagel it's a bagel sandwich with eggs cheese, your choice of cheddar or swiss onions green peppers and Ham. then I got creative with the coffee mixing mocha with Hawaiian hazelnut and my breakfast was completed with a yummy cinnamon roll just to capture that sweet tooth that I starting.

We love a good bagel! Come here and you will get just that!

It was a Sunday morning and just didn't want to mess up the kitchen and cook up breakfast. We needed a break.

Husband had this place in mind as they cook bagels the traditional way. Kettle boiled then baked to perfection. Wow.

So Husband chose the Lox and bagel, onion bagel. It was stacked with smoked salmon, a heavy schmear of cream cheese, tomato slices, red onion slice, and plumpy capers. Sliced in half - perfect to share!

I picked the Spinach, Ham, Mushrooms beggel (sourdough bagel) - loaded with spinach, sauteed shrooms, thinly sliced ham, and my choice of cheddar cheese - all melted into a toasty bagel. It was piping hot!

We each shared our halves. I will have to say, this is probably the best bagel I have had. I will remember this.

Also had lattes. It paired very well with the bagels.

Service was friendly and excellent. There is something about getting really good service at the counter that touches me. It's like you are really appreciated. It's an awesome feeling. It makes me want to come back for more and more.

As mentioned in another review, yes this is a franchise shop; however, it feels like a family-owned mom and pop. Well, there definitely was a momma behind the counter and we knew she was the boss from the get-go. hee hee.

There is some seating area outside the shop. Beware of the pigeons above. They love flying up then back down then back up...yea you get the picture. LOL

Will be coming back soon, for...
