Hostess told me there would be a 10 min wait, a little over 15 min I stand infront of the door and notice that there's an empty table inside to the side of the hostess desk including 2 free tables outside so I just look at her and smile and she instantly turns away..I stood there for 5 min as she kept trying not to lock eyes with me which was hilarious to me, I was waiting a little over 20 min for a free table even though there were 3 so I approach the hostess who hadn't moved since I had 1st stood infront of her station and I stare at the empty table to her side and smile at her and I then ask her if I could put in a drink order while I continue to wait for a table to be free, she then says to me ," I can seat you now if you'd like"......... I stare at her smiling and I chuckle and tell her " SURE THAT'D BE GREAT" Sarcastically.
So over 20 min to be seated outside at the very table my party and I had already been waiting at we get service...I get a 4 oz Orange Juice $5.50 which also translates to LESS than a 2 1/2 shot of your favorite well liquor at your local bar or just go to black bear diner in signal hill and pay $5.39 for a large fresh squeezed Orange juice...I try to order their biscuit and gravy since that's the very thing that was promoted on Instagram that caught my attention but I'm told that they sold out of biscuits 4 orders ago...so I order fried chicken and gravy with potatoes...potatoes arrive 10 min before actual entree and when I finally receive entree it was really disappointing...chicken isn't crispy ( Including the areas that weren't touched by gravy, duh) the gravy itself was different...it didn't remind me of comfort food at all..
Soo, I get my bill and I noticed that our waitress has charged me for " chicken and biscuits and gravy plate" but noted NO BREAD, if she would have told me that I was going to be charged for that complete plate I'd have asked for a substitution...so i paid $13.50 for a piece of chicken and 1 egg ( an extra $2.50 charge) with gravy and $5.00 for breakfast potatoes that arrived 10 min before my actual meal...
Times are tough right now and the experience doesn't match the price tag... if you want to go eat somewhere that comes off as boujee, high end and sophisticated( prices also) but food is mediocre then meemaws is for you....but in my opinion if you want good comfort food at reasonable prices that include an inviting and comforting setting there are many other local places in town that offer that...I will never forget paying $5.50 for 4 OZ orange juice while gas is trying to...
Read moreWe were in the area for my haircut when the hankering for a tasty brunch struck me and my fiancee. First we tried to stop by The Pan--took one look at the line and said, "Nevermind!" I pulled up Yelp and scoped out the surrounding area and noticed MeeMa's, with its 5-star average, and figured it was worth it to at least see if there was a line. We were thrilled there was no line for patio dining, and we were seated right away. We started with cocktails--I got a bloody Mary, and my fiancee got a mimosa. They were both a little weak, but they were also pretty cheap so we didn't mind too much.
Then it was time for food! A lot of stuff looked/sounded good on the menu, so I had a tough time deciding. We liked that they do both lunch and breakfast, all day long, LOTS of choices for various moods/appetites. My fiancee was in the mood for the lunch menu, so she went with the carne asada burrito, which she really enjoyed. I had a bite as well and can confirm, it's tasty! I was in the mood for breakfast, and while things like chicken & waffles, or a breakfast burrito sounded good, I also was in the mood to try something NEW. So I settled on their brisket taco and MAN was I glad I did! Buttery slow-cooked brisket lain over a bed of soy-rizo beans (OMG), with a big hunk of thick-cut bacon and a sunny-side egg on top, all wrapped in a tortilla with salsa on the side. The flavors of this breakfast taco were out of this world! Highly recommend it. Although I don't understand why they do it on one huge tortilla rather than as two smaller tacos--this makes it a bit unwieldy to eat. But the taste will keep me coming back for sure.
Can't wait to come back and try other menu items--recommend you come by and give MeeMa's a...
Read moreFood was okay but customer service was not great. We went in with a large party and anticipated long wait times. We were quoted an hour and decided to stick it out. Our waitress came out about 40 minutes into our wait and asked if we would be willing to split our party in half and sit at 2 booths. We reluctantly agreed to it as it may get us seated faster. She comes back out 5 minutes later and says that actually, the large party before us chose the booths so we will have to keep waiting for a table to open up. We continued to wait as now at least we would get seated together.
Two tables opened and they were pushed together and set up for a larger party so we expected to be seated there since we were next. Nope! They move the party that had already chosen the booths and ordered all their food and drinks instead. Mind you this party had already been seated at the booths for 10-15 minutes at this point. Really crappy experience, no apologies or explanation from staff either. It was just ignored as if it didn’t happen right in front of us. Will not be returning,...
