I want to give a huge shout out to Charles for all of his hard work working with me to design and create the perfect engagement ring!

I did a lot of miscellaneous Googling for ring inspiration, but nothing really stood out to me as a dream ring. Charles was able to take a handful of aesthetics that appealed to me and make a core ring idea that I loved. He had a strong designer’s sense of specific updates and changes he could make when I had general feedback thoughts about each iteration. I really appreciate all the time and patience to try out suggested ring changes, even ones that didn’t work out!

In addition to the custom ring CAD work he did, Charles was also knowledgeable about different stones (I was interested in a non-diamond central stone) and metal working techniques. His expertise really shone with all the miscellaneous questions I had about the process and about rings in general.

And finally, Charles was so kind in working with us about general budget expectations and helping us get to a price that we were comfortable with. I was ready to start slashing at the lovely ring design to get to a ring that was under budget, but Charles helped us in finding stones that were less expensive and discounting steps of the process to get us to an acceptable price while preserving the ring design.

Everyone who has jewelry they love wants a jeweler they can trust when they need repairs. A friend recently asked me to get a second opinion on repairs for six rings she really cherishes. She went to a jeweler near her home in WA who quoted her $4,300 to “fix” her rings, saying every one of them needed a major repair (!). She was really upset, naturally, and asked me if I could get her a second opinion.

So I took them to Gems & Jewels because I know they have a professional bench jeweler on site. His opinion? Only two of them needed fixing, one to tighten two stones that were channel set — a minor fix —and another one that we knew needed to have the shank reinforced and then resized. The other rings were FINE. Total cost for the two rings was 80% less than she was quoted by the other jeweler!

It really makes me angry that the other jeweler tried to rip my friend off that way, and I’m really, really glad I know of a place I can trust with my jewelry. And yes, I’ve definitely also purchased jewelry from them, which I’ve also been pleased with. I am just so very happy I found...

After many months of searching for the perfect ring, my now wife and I walked into Bixby Gems and Jewels and met Jeffrey. My wife was very particular about the style of ring she wanted, and once we got to talking we realized that Jeffrey could create anything we could imagine.

Afterward, we encountered a “dream” setting on the Internet; a very intricate design with vintage milgrain, filigree, and beading. After showing Jeffrey some pictures of it, he was able to take our design and customize it to create an absolute work of art!

We were able to be involved in all the phases of the process, which gave us a unique glimpse and enjoyable experience.

His knowledge of gemstones was also very impressive, and his willingness to show us a variety of options to fit the setting, helped us to craft the perfect masterpiece.
