I had just finished getting my hair cut at Razorbacks next door when I passed by the front windows of The Breakfast Bar. I doubled-back and after looking at the sandwich board that listed some specials, decided to check it out. Despite it being around the high-time for when most people would be meeting for brunch, being a solo diner, I was easily seated by the staff and decided to sit at the bar.
Luke and Preston were friendly and attentive, checking in whenever they noticed a lull. All of the staff was well mannered, engaged in what they were doing, and presented a refreshing reminder of what good service feels like.
The interior decor sported a fresh black, white, and aquamarine color scheme and was smartly accessorized - giving a hip modern diner feel.
I ordered the French toast entree with a soy chorizo option, black coffee, and orange juice. It came with 3 thick slices of French toast that was garnished with fresh strawberries and blackberries, the soy chorizo was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and the over easy eggs were smartly sprinkled with minced parsley.
The menu pricing was a bit higher than some may like, but it landed on par with what you would expect of such a place, ending up around $30. "You get what you pay for," as they say.
By the time I left, the hosts had pushed their podium out onto the sidewalk as they welcomed a rush of guests in (everyone smiling) and was wished well as I left. I will definitely be back again after my next haircut next door,...
Read moreThree stars for what, hang in there we'll get to it.... My daughter and her girlfriend lives so close to this place that you could yell in the order. So with my wife and Mormor (Grandma in Swedish) in tow we entered one busy establishment but here comes one demerit, this place is so freaking loud that having a chat without leaning in and shouting is terrible. If you are twenty something you're most likely ok, but for a sixty-plus year old guy no bueno. I ordered Eggs Benedict my favorite for Sunday breakfast, and I'm sorry here's another demerit, food arrived and I'm looking at this lump of.......looked like a well done hamburger!!? I looked at my wife and said a "hamburger"!!????? She must be smarter than me as she said "must be a potato" but seriously dear cook, I was a trained chef back in Europe many, many, many moons ago, if I would have put out a dish with something aching to a moon rock my rent would not have been paid that month. Other than that it tasted fine. The staff was lovely and if you read this Mr. staff member I'm the one with the yellow Schumacher. Everyone else at the table was happy with their choice of food so thats good. But you guys need to fix that atrocious noise level and...
Read moreWe had a terrible time at the Breakfast Bar. The Atmosphere really lived up to it's name, it felt like a bar you could order some breakfast food at. It felt like we were ignored because we didn't order any alcohol. We saw people who sat after us get served before us and the difference seemed like they had cocktails/mimosas and we stuck with water and soft drinks. When our food finally did come it was obvious that it had been waiting under a heat lamp for a while. I ordered the "Fluffy Buttermilk Pancakes" and one was stuck to the plate, both were more chewy than fluffy, and the presentation was not what the menu prepared me for. All that is labeled on the menu is pancakes, eggs, and a side of meat of your choice. I was surprised when they came covered in fruit and powdered sugar. Normally I would be impressed, but checking their menu, fruit and sugar are not listed anywhere. Our server needed the manager to help pick up her slack. Not only at our table but at others around the restaurant. My wife and I love going out to breakfast but we get better service at Denny's or Polly's than we would at the...
