My mother was visiting from overseas this summer and the two of us decided to celebrate Mothers' Day together at Lisa's Tea Treasures. I called them in the morning and they instantly gave us a reservation for that very afternoon. My mother treated me to a very special lunch and high tea here; we ordered two of their vegetarian high tea lunches to share and were very satisfied with both. The first was the Duchess' Delight (Afternoon Tea in England) which included a scone with Devonshire cream and preserves, two each of Tomato with Herbed Cream Cheese and Cucumber Mint, tea sandwiches, Quiche of the day, and dessert. We got the Black currant pot of tea to accompany it. The second was the Venetian's Romance (Afternoon Tea in Italy) that included a scone with Devonshire cream and preserves, Goat Cheese with Sundried Tomato tea sandwiches, Pesto Nut tea sandwiches, Roasted Garlic Cheese Puffs, and dessert. With this one, we got the milder White pomegranate tea. Very memorable experience...

I donât expect all of the tidbits to be prepared fresh, daily in shopâs kitchen, but on this Friday noon, it appeared that maybe only the finger sandwiches (and perhaps the 4â quiche) were. The sandwiches were tasty, by-the-way. But for $50 per person, I have come to expect more. Maybe our next family tea will be...
