My experience in almost all See's candy stores is typically positive. The days of the grumpy old ladies (who didn't want to share an extra piece of candy) are over.
There is one store in particular that I patronize the most. When I went into this store at Christmas one particular young employee epitomized an old timey candy store employee. He was so nice and helpful. The store was so crowded, people go crazy in candy stores at Christmas but he was unflappable and patient. This one lady ... ugh. I was ready to clunk her upside the head for him but he handled her beautifully.
The biggest test came last Saturday night (3/2/24) when I needed something to cheer up my mother and last minute decided to go to See's. It was a race against the clock and I got there literally one moment before close, 6:59 pm. I rushed in apologizing like mad and said I would just be a minute I only needed a few candies tossed into a bag.
It was the same guy from Christmas. I looked for it, but there wasn't even a hint of attitude for the idiot who blows in 1 minute before closing wanting a random bag of candy, not even a prepared box. I complimented him once I completed my purchase and told him I'm impressed with his service and kindness. I'm a curmudgeon, I have to give credit where credit is due. If this kid keeps going the way he's going, he will own a chain of these stores someday.
I was in sales for a long time and it's true that when people get exceptional or very bad service they talk, and I can't tell you how many people I've recommended to the Los Altos store and why. A few people knew who I was talking about and told me that's why they also make a point of going to that particular store.
Good hire, Los Altos See's.
(I would post a picture of the candies I picked out but to be real, they didn't last long. At one point I actually had to toss the bag into the back seat so a few could make it home in...
Read moreI love Sees Candies. It is an awesome value. I am frustrated with their management of Cash Registers. Today Valentines Day, there were 17 people in line because they would not open a register for pre-packaged candy selections. A man came in, got a box of candy, and went to the front register. He boldly demanded service. A young woman with glasses enabled him to jump in front of 17 customers and buy his box of candy, even after I was protesting and pointing out that 11 other people with boxed candy were in front of him. Talk about MALE PREVILEGE!! After they opened a line for prepackaged box goods, (BTW I am purchasing a custom assortment). As punishment, they took off one worker so there are two VERY SLOW ladies at the counter. The register should be handled by one of the older ladies. The young lady is sitting idle at the register for boxed Candies now. There are 6 people in front of me and I have been here 20 minutes. Moral: Never get a custom assortment on...
Read moreHappy Halloween everyone just don’t take your children in there when I arrived I was the second person in line I wanted something from the counter was asked before I could reply if I would mind waiting until she rang up another customer until the customer said She want something from the counter as well. I also was going to ask the lady if she wanted to go in front of me then your employee asked me what I wanted as I was pointing out I was asking her telling her what I wanted she then turned to the lady that had a three-year-old child and said what else can I give her to make her stop whining your employee since I got into your store was complaining that she was the only one there the whole time if she just would’ve taken care of one person at a time it would’ve been fine once she made that comment about the little three-year-old whining they looked at her and said that’s what children of her age does and I Proceeded to leave your store...
