I've been a regular at The Post for a while now, and I've always appreciated its charming ambiance and the hardworking staff. Tucked away in a cozy corner of town, this restaurant has been my go-to spot for a warm meal and friendly service. Sadly, recent experiences have led me to reconsider my loyalty, primarily due to the behavior of the owner, Vicky.
The staff at The Post is exceptional. From the moment you walk in, you're met with genuine smiles and attentive service. The servers are knowledgeable and eager to ensure a pleasant dining experience. Over the years, I've come to know many of them by name, and their dedication and effort are truly commendable.
The food here is consistently delicious, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. The kitchen team deserves high praise for their work; their passion is evident in every dish, from perfectly cooked steaks to delightful desserts.
However, despite these positives, I've been troubled by Vicky's behavior. Vicky, the blonde-haired owner who is often the face of the restaurant, has shown a shocking lack of respect for her staff. I've overheard her making disparaging comments about them, often in public and within earshot of customers. Terms like "terrible" and "incompetent" are alarmingly frequent in her vocabulary when referring to the very people who keep her restaurant running. It's disheartening to see someone in a leadership role treat their team with such disdain. On more than one occasion, I've even heard her use foul language to describe her staff, which is entirely unacceptable and unprofessional.
This kind of toxic behavior isn't just unprofessional; it's damaging. A restaurant thrives not only on good food but also on the morale and cohesion of its staff. When the owner is openly critical and disrespectful, it creates a hostile work environment that undermines the efforts of even the most dedicated employees. No matter how hard they work, it's difficult for the staff to stay motivated when they are constantly belittled and undervalued.
For me, this was the final straw. While I've always loved the food and appreciated the staff's efforts, I can no longer support a business where the owner cultivates such a negative atmosphere. Vicky's repeated disrespect towards her team has tainted my experience, making it impossible to enjoy my meals knowing the turmoil behind the scenes.
In conclusion, The Post has great potential, thanks to its talented staff and wonderful cuisine. However, the owner's attitude towards her employees casts a long shadow over what could otherwise be a stellar establishment. Respect and appreciation for the team are essential for any successful business. Until there's a change in how Vicky treats her staff, I won't be returning.
To the amazing servers, chefs, and support staff: thank you for your dedication and hard work. You are the heart of this restaurant, and your efforts have always been valued by those of us who recognize your contributions. I hope you find yourselves in a more supportive environment where your talents are...
Read moreThis was by far the most underwhelming and overpriced dining experience I've had in years. The location is prime and the interior is well lit and clean but that is the limit of what we enjoyed during our visit. Let's start with price. $24 to $40 for a dinner entree, $16 for a starter and $9 for a bottle of sparkling water. Two entrees, one starter and two bottles of water* totaled $95 after tax and tip. $95.
For this price, I'm expecting food that would be difficult for the average person to cook and most certainly better than the average Blue Apron meal. The Post food is sadly below both of these standards.
I ordered the pork shoulder and shared a calamari starter with my wife. The pork shoulder included rice and steamed vegetables. The rice was dry and not seasoned to any appreciable degree. The steamed vegetables were very bland. The pork shoulder was pretty good with a well-designed salsa topping that was the highlight of the meal. The pork could have easily been marinated or spiced to a greater degree and was fairly plain without the salsa topping.
My wife ordered a steak with mashed potatoes and the same steamed veggies. The steak was cooked without salt or pepper, but it was at least a good dry-aged cut. I could have easily cooked a better steak at home with a cut purchased from Whole Foods.
*The Post was out of bottled water after we ordered and we were happy to have club soda with a twist of lime instead. The waitress still charged us for the bottled water, which was $18 for two bottles. Unfortunately, we caught the mistake only after the card was run and although the waitress was willing to provide us with a free dessert to make up for the mistake, she was unwilling or unable to credit the difference to the card. I didn't want to take my chances with an underwhelming desert so we walked down the street to Satura Cakes before they closed.
Finally, it's distracting to have a giant 60" TV in the main dining area playing sports (with commercials) while paying $50 for a meal. The game wasn't anything significant (Cowboys v Rams) and this distraction makes it difficult to concentrate on your conversation when the TV is so large and directly in your line of sight.
The Post needs to hire chefs that know what a $50 per person meal tastes like or lower their prices...
Read moreParking is located in the back of the restaurant and there is plenty. Outdoor seating is ample with heaters. The specials menu changes. Ordered the halibut with saffron sauce as well as the peach caprese salad, both of which were simple and delicious. I also ordered the ahi tuna poke and enjoyed that as well. There are some restaurants where they add extra ingredients and less poke but not this place. I had a good serving of tuna to satisfy me. The other folks in my party raved about their dishes which were the rib eye, calamari, salmon burger, kids sliders, and salad. The banana bread pudding dessert was on the small side but that's OK... Probably for the best. Everyone in my party would definitely return. Reserve on OpenTable for your points. Both occasions when visited, we were seated at reservation time. Service was good. They provide markers and paper menu for the kids to color and high chairs. Family friendly. Update 09/2021: Repeat customer. This place is still great but it lost 1 star because they changed their main menu. Pro: the halibut with saffron sauce that was once on the specials menu has now transitioned to the regular menu. Con: my favorite poke appetizer with avocado and chips changed to the bowl. My husband loved it but instead, I wish they added the bowl as an extra item rather than in lieu. This visit, we ordered the meatballs which were plenty to share and the flat iron steak that is 8 oz, cooked correctly at the ordered temp of medium rare. The menu was not updated and the listed "Seasonal vegetables" was actually asparagus. Waiter was unsure what the seasonal vegetable was when asked. The Smore in a cup was ordered for dessert and it was nice. Will still continue to come back. Outdoor seating. A new addition is the TVs are now facing outside to get ready for all the games. Chilly but plenty of heaters, simply ask the staff. A plus, you see the same staff working so it tells me that staff is happy and there is not a...
