Last week I ordered a meal for pick up after work (first week of 2022) It was storming outside so I looked forward to a hot and tasty mea from a beautiful life cafe on Spring Street, between 2nd and 3rd street. I ordered a combo plate of oxtails, jerk chicken, and only plantains and cabbage. I was going to split the meal with my roomie, so I topped it off with a chicken and veggie patty each. The host repeated my order back to me when I picked up and I rushed to catch my bus in the pouring rain. When I got home, my roomie, who is from Belize, was excited about the oxtails and patties. I had brought home food from a beautiful life before and it never disappointed. I opened the container and there was plenty of food but NO jerk chicken. Oh No! That was for me. My roomie offered to share and I accepted. But the oxtails were SO salty. Not like I've had with them before. My roomie was polite about it until I brought it up. It was too rainy to go out and pick up something new so... we ate what we had. The plantains, cabbage, and patties were fantastic as usual. The next day I called the Cafe and spoke to Marquese about the incomplete order. He remembered me and apologized. He suggested I request the order again and he would fulfill the ENTIRE thing. Wow! Because I work remotely, it has been over a week since he offered. BUT... he remembered me and was willing to fulfill the ENTIRE order. All I really wanted was the jerk chicken, which I LOVE. We negotiated and agreed on a Jerk Chicken bowl with cabbage and plantains. I walked to the cafe from work, and only had to wait about 10 more mins for the order to be done, BUT... it was hot and fresh. Marquese even double checked with the chef to be sure no rice was added to the order and that my request was fulfilled as I wanted. I also ordered one chicken and one veggie patty again. I also told Marquese about the salty oxtails, he kindly offered to inform the chef about it. They SAVED me as a customer. Food was comforting and flavorful. Drinks were yummy and delicious. Music and vibe was great. We came here for a friendsmas brunch and were excited to celebrate at this establishment.
All was nice until the manager approached us an hour into our reservation with unprofessionalism and rudeness. These are the words that she approached us with while eating and drinking our food⦠ācan i get you containersā āwe need this tableā ācan I move you all to the barā āhow long have you been sitting here.ā Essentially trying to move us along as we can see that the Managment overbooked the restaurant which is none of our Concern as first time paying costumers. Obviously, this restaurant does not care about people returning because we will NEVER come back to this restaurant the way that we were treated and served.
To make matters worse, this āmanagerā came back a second time and was trying to save face. However, she failed as she continued to be unapologetic and said āthat was not my intention to get you out.ā I responded with the exact words used above and told her, you had every intention to try to move us along. Iām not sure who this manager is, but i want to ensure that she knows who I am and I am not going to tolerate an establishment that will treat a customer the way she did.

We all got there early/on time for our reservation. When we were finally approached by the host or waitress 30 minutes later she told my friend (the birthday girl ) that they couldn't find her reservation. Mind you she had made the reservation 2 weeks in advance and even confirmed with the restaurant the day before. They told us they that the day before we arrived (Saturday) the restaurant had decided they were no longer taking large parties?!!???? Sooooo knowing that my friend had a party of 20 people coming the next day, you would think they would have called her to tell her they couldn't hold our large party but they didn't. Having to drive an hour out to this restaurant this wasn't something the birthday girl and the rest of the party wanted to hear. The way it was handled by the manager was very unprofessional and unorganized. On top of that they told us if we would sit and wait for people to leave that our food orders would be wrong and messed up because they didn't have enough cooks and waitresses on staff. Like what?!?? Excuse me?!?!? Not enough cooks and staff on a Sunday?!? So after waiting 2 hours outside in the heat, we noticed other tables were waiting more than an hour to be served their food.
