Here’s the rundown: What I tried: I went for the Eel roll and the Dynamite roll. Seriously, the Eel roll was something else—super tender eel, not too fishy, just right. They drizzled this sweet sauce over the top that just tied it all together beautifully. It’s a must-try if you go. Then, the Dynamite roll, true to its name, was just explosive. It was this spicy mix of seafood that was perfectly balanced—not too hot but with just enough kick to keep it interesting. Vibe of the place: It’s pretty laid-back and unpretentious. Just a cozy little spot that puts all the focus on the food. The decor isn’t anything flashy, but it’s comfortable, and you feel pretty relaxed sitting there. Service: Really solid. Our server was on the ball, super friendly, and knew the menu inside out. Gave us some great recommendations and was attentive without hovering too much. Just made the whole experience smooth. Overall thoughts: Honestly, the place was great. Both rolls were standout, but that Eel roll was a highlight for me. I’d say it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area and craving some quality sushi.

A Hidden Gem for Sushi Lovers! 🍣✨ I was looking for a good sushi spot closer to home and came across this place on Google. After checking out the photos and reviews, I decided to give it a try—and I’m glad I did! The sushi here is top-notch—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. One thing I really appreciated is that they offer smaller portions of their rolls (e.g., 3 or 4 pieces instead of the usual 6), making it easy to sample a variety of items. I ordered the salmon hand roll, salmon raincoat roll, rock shrimp roll, and miso soup—all were delicious! The quality of the fish was excellent, and each roll was crafted with care. Beyond the food, the atmosphere is laid-back, and the staff is super friendly. Even with just one waitress, the service was great. If you’re a sushi fan, I highly recommend checking this place out!

Food was pretty good, prices were not too bad, the service was mundane and unpleasant. The apathetic waiter with no enthusiasm of any kind asked us our order. When it came to pickup plates the waiter did so without the slightest effort and wouldn't even reach to pickup the plate we had to present it to him. Perhaps his back was out, perhaps a pulled muscle, perhaps he was having a bad day. But way would you ruin it for your patrons? Seems counterproductive to hire such dispassionate employees and pay them 12 dollars minimum per hour and a tip for atrocious service.

I had the unfortunate displeasure of encountering Ashley, the epitome of laziness and detachment, during my recent visit to 2 Die for Sushi. Her abysmal service and complete lack of professionalism left a sour taste in my mouth, and I cannot help but express my profound disappointment. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that Ashley had no interest in providing attentive service. With a fake smile plastered on her face, she seemed more engrossed in mindless chatter with her co-workers than in actually doing her job. It took an agonizingly long time for her to acknowledge us, as if our presence was an inconvenience to her. Once we were finally seated, Ashley's incompetence became increasingly apparent. Her knowledge of the menu was nonexistent, as she couldn't be bothered to offer any recommendations or provide basic information about the dishes. It was as if she had never bothered to learn anything about the restaurant she worked at. But that was just the tip of the iceberg. Ashley's laziness was palpable throughout the entire meal. She slouched at the table next to us, more interested in staring at her precious Apple Watch than attending to our needs. It was beyond infuriating to witness her constant distractions while we struggled to get her attention. And when she did decide to grace us with her presence, it was with an air of indifference that bordered on contempt. She lazily took our orders, barely paying attention to our requests. Predictably, our orders arrived mangled and incomplete, as if she couldn't be bothered to relay our requests accurately to the kitchen. To add insult to injury, Ashley's lack of engagement and detachment were truly remarkable. She exuded an aura of indifference, treating us as mere nuisances rather than paying customers. Her responses were curt and disinterested, leaving us feeling unwelcome and unimportant. Ashley's laziness and detachment reached a new low when it came time to settle the bill. Incompetent at basic math, she struggled to calculate the total, further delaying our departure. It was a pathetic display of ineptitude that highlighted her complete lack of professionalism. Ashley's service at 2 Die for Sushi was an absolute disgrace. Her lazy demeanor, lack of knowledge, constant attachment to her Apple Watch, and detached attitude marred what could have been an enjoyable dining experience. I strongly advise potential patrons to steer clear of this establishment if they have any desire for attentive service and a pleasant atmosphere. Ashley's presence alone is enough to ruin the...

We have been eating at 2 Die For Sushi for the past 3 years and it's always been fresh, delicious and handled with care. However, since the pandemic we have made pick up orders and some things are not always meeting their dining standards. Mind you, we are regulars there . While at times they are great with packaging, to have 4-5 incidents out of many good ones is enough for me to decide and write this review, especially when the feedback has been ineffective. We've always been very appreciative and I've leaned to open the boxes at pick up time (before leaving the restaurant), and have literally found random piece of edamame or something landing on top. We haven't even mentioned to them when we find the presentation of the packed sushi to look rushed and the sashimi cuts look like they cut and just and dumped in there. However, the past 2 times our cold sushi (such as the delicate Salmon Roe) is placed next to the warm baked orders (such as baked fresh water Eel), making the sushi cuts unpleasantly warm. The first time this happened, I made a compliment- filled call emphasizing what fans we are and that i suggest keeping their warm and cold cuts separate. Tonight we picked up and order of nearly $90 and my husband had noticed at pick up time that they had packed cold and warm food together. He said he didn't wanna mention anything since we are regulars but this time while eating, we could tell the Roe eggs had lost the plumpness. I made another call and Amy said "It's OK to pack hot and cold sushi together and that i wouldn't get sick from it". In addition, I was told that i should mention upon ordering about keeping cold and warm sushi separate. I agree that I will remind them next time, but was very disappointed for the way my constructive feed back was subjected to how "I" would handle it next time. I really don't mind mentioning and stressing this point when I order next time but you'd think they'd apply that reasonable standard to all their pick up packages. We'll see how things are next time but to me, little negligence as such could be indicative of other careless errors that cannot be afforded with sushi. I'm giving them ONE LAST TRY NEXT TIME before we choose the longer drive to Kushiyu where we'd have to pay A LOT more but be ensured of quality. The reason for my 2 out of 5 stars is that we had four orders of Ikura by which we were turned off after the first bite.

Update: Have only ordered food twice since then and seems that some mindful corrections have been...

Hidden gem doesn't even begin to describe To Die For Sushi. Nestled in a humble space in Northridge, this place is so unassuming you might walk right past it--but don't. Because once you walk in and sit at the bar, you'll realize you've discovered one of the best sushi experiences in all of Los Angeles.

Chef Danny is a true artist. We had front-row seats to his craft and were mesmerized watching him turn simple ingredients into edible masterpieces. Every slice, every plate--pure precision and passion.

We shared a bento box with mixed tempura, mixed sushi, and sashimi, and were blown away by the variety and balance. The Heart Attack (fried jalapeño stuffed with cream cheese and topped with spicy tuna) was absolute fire--bold, indulgent, and perfectly crispy.

The Toro and salmon were melt-in-your-mouth perfection--fresh, buttery, and honestly some of the best I've had anywhere in L.A.

Our server, Samantha, was fantastic--warm, attentive, and clearly knew the menu well. She made great recommendations and timed everything perfectly.

This place is a sushi lover's dream, without the pretense or the inflated prices of trendy spots. The prices are really affordable and the quality top notch. I have paid a lot more for so much less elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and sit at the bar--watch the magic happen, savor every bite, and thank me later.
