I tried to order the popcorn chicken with my friend, and asked if they used the same fryer for the popcorn shrimp as I am allergic to seafood. The staff had said no and we paid. They later approached us and said that I was correct. We just wanted to get a refund, but they insisted on offering a free dessert on them. So we ended up getting the strawberry french toast, but before completely agreeing I said are there any nuts as I am also allergic to that. The staff said no and that they would try to be mindful of the seafood. Once we got the french toast I immediately felt my throat getting dry and itchy. I ran downstairs to ask what was in the chocolate syrup, and they said that they had thrown the original bottle away. I then asked for the brand, and so the staff went to the back to confirm but believed that it was Hershey's. They came out to tell me that it was actually Nutella. It contains hazelnuts which on the scale of nuts that I am allergic to is one of the most fatal. Although I knew how to respond to the situation as I have experienced negligence from restaurants in the past, I still ended up having a bad allergic reaction. The ambulance was called and it became a whole ordeal that ruined my day. I hope that in the future they can be more mindful of what they tell customers and be better informed for those of us that have severe dietary restrictions. So overall, I do not recommend going...
Read moreHuge space with plenty of seats, complemented with decent wifi connection making it perfect spots for sitting with your gadget I guessed and you could literally saw almost every single table had at least a laptop on it.
If you're worried it meant people sat and didn't move for hours, worry not as they had more than enough spaces to accommodate the crowd. The venue was busy throughout the day (I came on a Saturday) yet they have plenty of baristas and impeccably got the orders ready in just few blinks. If you didn't mind loud background noise like me, this spot was for you. While I appreciated the swift service, the only room for improvement was prolly having the attendant who's taking order, being more knowledgeable on what's on the menu as in my case she was barely able to answer any of my questions.
I ended up only having the drink given I wasn't really sure about the food. They seemed to be popular for their different kinds of cream top drinks, and I could see they also brag about their ceremonial grade matcha. Having their Matcha Earl Grey, I could validate that they deserved to be proud of their matcha as it's indeed very bold and tasted solid. You could straight away tell from the vibrant color and despite this particular menu came sweetened as default, the sweetness level was just precisely like how I wanted it. The earl grey gave extra smash for the drink and actually making it...
Read moreOMG! I visited Yellow House Cafe in Northridge and was instantly impressed by the atmosphere. The space is clean, bright, warm, and beautifully designed with a modern, elegant touch.
They offer a unique menu you won’t find at other local coffee shops — the kind of drinks I used to drive to K-town for! The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, especially with recommending what to try.
I like to start with the basics before exploring more, so I ordered an iced vanilla latte, an iced matcha latte, and the pork katsu. The vanilla latte was smooth and clean, with perfectly balanced espresso and a rich vanilla bean flavor — not the usual syrupy kind. A staff member shared that they use actual vanilla beans, which was a nice surprise!
The matcha latte was also excellent — not too sweet, and you could really taste the deep, high-quality matcha. They use 100% ceremonial-grade matcha imported from Japan.
I ordered the pork katsu to-go, and it was flavorful and satisfying. I appreciated the high-quality to-go packaging — it made takeout super convenient.
I can’t wait to come back and try more from the menu. This place is definitely going to be a...
