Mixed Experience at 85°C Bakery Café – Great Pastries, But Be Prepared for Crowds and Parking Issues

I stopped by 85°C Bakery Café around 5:58 PM on a Sunday, and the experience was a bit of a mixed bag. When we arrived, the bakery was pretty packed, which I expected on a weekend evening, but what caught me off guard was how empty the shelves were. There was very little variety left—most of the popular pastries were already gone, so if you're hoping for the full selection, I highly recommend coming earlier in the day.

The inside of the bakery felt slightly unkempt at the time of our visit, which may have been due to the rush or lack of staff to keep up with cleaning. While we were sitting inside, we actually witnessed two separate car accidents just outside the shop—which brings me to the major issue: parking.

Parking is a nightmare. It’s extremely hard to find a spot in the plaza, and when it’s full (which it often is), your only option is to pay for parking, which has a $20 minimum. That’s a hefty fee if you’re just swinging by for a quick pastry or drink.

That said, there were still some redeeming qualities. The few pastries they did have were absolutely delicious, and honestly, we couldn’t complain about the taste. Even with the limited selection, everything we bought was fresh and flavorful. The staff was very kind, patient, and accommodating despite the chaos. We asked for a bottle of water, and they graciously gave us a free cup of water—a small gesture, but it left a positive impression. God bless them for their kindness.

Overall, I’d say the food and customer service are worth coming for, but timing is everything. Come earlier if you want variety, and consider carpooling or rideshare to avoid the parking mess. I’d still recommend the spot for their quality pastries and drinks, but just know what to...

The food is great but my friends and I had the worst customer service experience in our entire life. We just bought our food and sat in one of the tables. We just started eating and then they just turned off the lights and nobody told us. We were amused because we are so visible to the employees and nobody bothers telling us that we need to leave. When we went outside we saw it that the light was turned again. I went back and talked to the manager I told him our disapppointment and he just said that the light will automatically turned off to get rid of their customers. Wow! what a reason! It’s so rude for him to tell me that. I told him that someone should just have told us that we need to leave because their closing than just turned off the light while we were eating! My friend saw the lady employee turned off the switch but before that one of the employees started to put the chairs on the table but he did not bother tell us that we need to leave. We can just say that the employees have no respect! No courtesy! No kindness! No customer service ethics. They need to be trained or terminated if they are not happy doing their job in.a customer service industry. They dont know how to treat us or approach us well maybe because we are asians. We are frequent customers to the company. I have been to many countries and dine in to many food chains and restaurants but I just did experience the worst customer service in my life and it happened in Los Angeles, California, USA in 85 degrees, 3377 Wilshire...

Without a doubt this is my favorite place to buy baked treats when I need something special and sweet (generally on impulse). My wonderful, considerate friend bought me a birthday cake from here last November and since then I simply must stop in on a weekly (ok, sometimes bi-weekly, multi-weekly?) basis in order to satiate what has been described by others as a slightly aggressive sugar habit. Luckily, their ever-changing displays of decadent bites offers an equisite and adventurous variety to choose from, made fresh daily. I would be quite surprised to find another establishment capable of enticing everyone, from the most rigidly conservative food purist to that hard to impress exotic consumer of rare and uncommon oven delicacies. I love trying new things every time I come in as well as ensuring that I buy several of my favorite regulars to take home and hold me over until my next visit. If you haven't tried 85 degrees Bakery I promise you will not be disappointed. As added protection from any guilt that may arise (due to eating desserts at 1:00 pm) the ingredients they use are high in quality and no unusual, confusing, or questionable additives are used in the making of these pure and unbelievably delicious bakes goods. If your on any sort of strict diet, this may not be the best option for you, but I don't judge! Hell, there's always some farmers market to commit to...

At 730 pm the store was nearly emptied of pastries. Get here far, far earlier or suffer the consequences. I got the Mango Brûlée cake slice and it was small but good. Not the best mango flavor but it was enjoyable. It is so light and small you feel like you got cheated. It’s not cheap either. They also serve coffee and other drinks. The store looks really nice but service was awful. Shame. It took the lady behind the counter forever to ask if we needed help and she did not put a fork or napkins into our bag. It was not busy either. You can order things at a kiosk. Anecdote from hell: At least tonight the napkins were all the way in the back of the store by the trash can. How can the attendant be expected to put napkins in your bag if they are soooo far away. 85c is a chain and at this location it suffers from that among other things. Meter and structure parking available.

I’m writing a review that’s mostly boosted up by not only the baked goods but also the customer service I received from Ricardo (I hope I heard his name correctly over the phone) today, who worked the morning shift on 4/6/23. I had put in a delivery order the day before to be delivered the next day but it unfortunately got canceled due to a misunderstanding amongst the staff and scheduled delivery driver. Rather than leaving me hang to dry, Ricardo arranged another delivery for me and made it worth my while, making sure all my needs were met. The delivery was made successfully and all was well. He was able to turn a potentially sour experience into a happy one. I can’t speak on behalf of the entire staff and offerings from this 85C bakery location, but the customer service I received today has made me a customer who is willing to and will come back to try more baked goods.

GET THE CHOCO ROLL! Imagine a Twinkie, Little Debbie, and Susy Q all rolled into one (pun intended). The delectable little treat was the perfect level of sweet, not too strong but definitely delicious. The store is cute, it’s trendy but you won’t run into too many obnoxious edgelords or Karens. The store was quite relaxed, note I went on a Wednesday evening. 85 also lets you bring your doggos, so let them tag along! I saw a lady and her well-trained pooch enjoying a treat. I can’t give the store a five-star rating as some of the treats looked, dry, unappetizing and let’s just face it, basic. However, the good treats are TASTY. The staff is also pretty sour, so we need to work on customer service ladies, next time don’t through my treats in my bag like they’re softballs!
