Mixed Experience at 85°C Bakery Café – Great Pastries, But Be Prepared for Crowds and Parking Issues
I stopped by 85°C Bakery Café around 5:58 PM on a Sunday, and the experience was a bit of a mixed bag. When we arrived, the bakery was pretty packed, which I expected on a weekend evening, but what caught me off guard was how empty the shelves were. There was very little variety left—most of the popular pastries were already gone, so if you're hoping for the full selection, I highly recommend coming earlier in the day.
The inside of the bakery felt slightly unkempt at the time of our visit, which may have been due to the rush or lack of staff to keep up with cleaning. While we were sitting inside, we actually witnessed two separate car accidents just outside the shop—which brings me to the major issue: parking.
Parking is a nightmare. It’s extremely hard to find a spot in the plaza, and when it’s full (which it often is), your only option is to pay for parking, which has a $20 minimum. That’s a hefty fee if you’re just swinging by for a quick pastry or drink.
That said, there were still some redeeming qualities. The few pastries they did have were absolutely delicious, and honestly, we couldn’t complain about the taste. Even with the limited selection, everything we bought was fresh and flavorful. The staff was very kind, patient, and accommodating despite the chaos. We asked for a bottle of water, and they graciously gave us a free cup of water—a small gesture, but it left a positive impression. God bless them for their kindness.
Overall, I’d say the food and customer service are worth coming for, but timing is everything. Come earlier if you want variety, and consider carpooling or rideshare to avoid the parking mess. I’d still recommend the spot for their quality pastries and drinks, but just know what to...
Read moreThe food is great but my friends and I had the worst customer service experience in our entire life. We just bought our food and sat in one of the tables. We just started eating and then they just turned off the lights and nobody told us. We were amused because we are so visible to the employees and nobody bothers telling us that we need to leave. When we went outside we saw it that the light was turned again. I went back and talked to the manager I told him our disapppointment and he just said that the light will automatically turned off to get rid of their customers. Wow! what a reason! It’s so rude for him to tell me that. I told him that someone should just have told us that we need to leave because their closing than just turned off the light while we were eating! My friend saw the lady employee turned off the switch but before that one of the employees started to put the chairs on the table but he did not bother tell us that we need to leave. We can just say that the employees have no respect! No courtesy! No kindness! No customer service ethics. They need to be trained or terminated if they are not happy doing their job in.a customer service industry. They dont know how to treat us or approach us well maybe because we are asians. We are frequent customers to the company. I have been to many countries and dine in to many food chains and restaurants but I just did experience the worst customer service in my life and it happened in Los Angeles, California, USA in 85 degrees, 3377 Wilshire...
Read moreWithout a doubt this is my favorite place to buy baked treats when I need something special and sweet (generally on impulse). My wonderful, considerate friend bought me a birthday cake from here last November and since then I simply must stop in on a weekly (ok, sometimes bi-weekly, multi-weekly?) basis in order to satiate what has been described by others as a slightly aggressive sugar habit. Luckily, their ever-changing displays of decadent bites offers an equisite and adventurous variety to choose from, made fresh daily. I would be quite surprised to find another establishment capable of enticing everyone, from the most rigidly conservative food purist to that hard to impress exotic consumer of rare and uncommon oven delicacies. I love trying new things every time I come in as well as ensuring that I buy several of my favorite regulars to take home and hold me over until my next visit. If you haven't tried 85 degrees Bakery I promise you will not be disappointed. As added protection from any guilt that may arise (due to eating desserts at 1:00 pm) the ingredients they use are high in quality and no unusual, confusing, or questionable additives are used in the making of these pure and unbelievably delicious bakes goods. If your on any sort of strict diet, this may not be the best option for you, but I don't judge! Hell, there's always some farmers market to commit to...
