It's ok, not really worth going out for.
Was excited to try the cheese steak, since it gets tons of hype and good reviews online. I haven't had a decent cheese steak since I was in Chicago or NYC, and thought maybe this would be decent.
Cheese steak meat tasted good enough, but it was so thinly sliced it was like meat slivers. There was hardly any seasonings to the meat except for salt, it seemed waaaaay too salty. They really skimp on the cheese too. We ordered provolone and I thought they must have forgotten to put cheese on the sandwich when we got it, turns out it was basically just one slice (they charge you $2.00 extra for more cheese).
Peppers and onions didn't seem flavorful or caramelized; I'm not sure how they are cooking things there, but they didn't seem like they were cooked on a hot flat top grill. Very minimal char or caramelization going on.
Bread was soft and soggy and tasted like a hot dog bun. Was basically mush by the time we got our sandwiches to the car (about ten minutes). Even Subway bread holds up better than this.
Overall score in terms of edible-ness versus price versus meeting expectations based on Google reviews? 5/10. Probably...
Read moreI've walked by this place tons of times while visiting other places in the same plaza, and didn't realize until a year ago when looking around on yelp (thank you yelp!) that this was a Philly cheesesteak place, and I love Philly cheesesteak and cheese whiz reminds of my childhood since I love cheese and this was one of my favorite snacks as a kid. When I saw the cheesesteak with cheese whiz on the menu, I had to try it but I was afraid it would be overwhelming so my friend and I split two different sandwiches, one with cheese whiz and the other with provolone-best idea ever cause we got to try both! I wanted to try the cheese whiz fries but we thought it'd be a little much so I'll need to save that for another visit. Both sandwiches were delicious, and my friend and I couldn't believe how amazing they were! The only prob was that both of our stomaches were uneasy until the next afternoon, maybe it was too heavy and too cheesy for us? I still enjoyed my experience though, and am willing to visit this place again despite the while stomach thing since the sandwich was so good!
They have another...
Read moreTime for lunch and I decided to get a cheesesteak. It’s truly hard to find a good cheesesteak spot in LA.
Got to the establishment and the girl behind the counter wasn’t so charming. Basically because I didn’t order Online; I had to go to a different counter to order it through a kiosk.
There are no chairs to sit down only tables to stand. When I ordered my sub of course I got extra mushrooms, but I also wanted lettuce. They charge extra for lettuce $1.25 to be exact. I got it anyways because I like lettuce on my cheesesteaks.
I ended up taking my cheesesteak back to my office. When I opened it up I noticed that they put the lettuce on the bottom portion of the sub. Who does that? I guess they do…lol. If the lettuce was on top the lettuce would never have gotten soggy. I mean if you were to get a cold sub you don’t put the lettuce on the bottom…RIGHT? The sub was also very bland didn’t have much flavor, and the mushrooms were not fresh they were canned or glass jarred mushrooms.
Definitely did not impress me. The bread however was definitely the right bread for a cheesesteak. Not sure if I...
