July 30, 2024. I have been coming here for years. I love this place and would make the drive from van nuys to noho just to get my burrito with BLACK SAUCE, a delicious tomatillo sauce i could find nowhere else. I came here a couple months ago and got my usual order and was satisfied as always. But i noticed on this visit a gentlemen with his mom taking measurements for remodeling, didn’t think anything of it just realized i had never seen the owners before. Today I went back for my usual having been craving it for the past three days. I was in the area with a friend whom i had already turned on to the black sauce, we were excited. We place our orders and she is asking the lady to please include black sauce a lot of it, i tell my friend no we have to get it ourselves at the condiments. The register lady then tells us, “oh no there is no black sauce we don’t make it anymore”. My heart drops, i ask what, who made that call? She says the owners. I figured then that the ppl i saw on my last visit must have been new owners. They invested all this money on remodeling but took away the sauce, smh. Don’t get me wrong the burritos are good and huge, but a good huge burrito can be found elsewhere. What I can’t find elsewhere is the BLACK SAUCE that really takes it home, and makes it such a satisfying experience. Today was a sad day. My friend and I decided not to buy our burritos because it seemed pointless regardless of how hungry we were. After years of being a customer I don’t know that I will continue coming here anymore if they don’t bring back the...
Read moreI love this place! I don't know if I just happen to visit during peak hours, but it always seems to be busy (in a good way!). I order ahead for pick-up even though they put the orders together pretty quickly (they never take longer than 10 minutes). It's more convenient and considerate since the place isn't that big. I often see customers hanging around waiting for their orders and kind of getting in the way of those dining in (stop waiting at and standing in front of the salsa bar!!! While staring at your smartphone, no less. You're mindlessly drooling. -- seriously).
My partner was a vegetarian for 8+ years but he reintroduced a little bit of meat to his diet recently and theirs is the only carne asada he'll eat. Their horchata is some of the best I have ever had and their brown salsa is insanely good with just the right amount of very mild heat. The service is friendly, speedy, and on point.
MINUS half a star (had to round down ) because it can sometimes get really warm inside on super hot days and their burritos can be a little soggy, depending on who assembles them. Other than that. I'm an extremely happy and loyal guest.
Parking Tip: Skip the parking lot. It's a mess. I prefer the street parking. Busy but with a fast turnover. It wouldn't kill you to do a...
Read moreI read so many good reviews of this place so I figured I'd give it a try. I walked in and there are all these pictures of famous people on the walls who have eaten there and there was a long line in the restaurant, so I get excited thinking 'okay the food here must be good.'
My boyfriend and I went here last weekend. I got the chicken burrito, a vegetarian taco and a fish taco. The fish taco was a joke. It was really bland, like no seasoning on it at all. The only thing they put on it was some tomatoes. It was also very difficult to eat because the liquid from the fish was seeping through the tortilla causing it to break when I tried to pick it up.
The vegetarian taco was better, but ultimately I was not impressed with the chicken burrito. The burrito was very huge (think Chipotle sized) but flavorless. Everything on the burrito tasted very bland and unseasoned. I almost didn't even want to finish eating it because it tasted so bad (but I didn't want to waste my money so I did).
Ultimately the food here is pretty bland and over priced. Los Angeles is filled with great Mexican restaurants and this place is not...
