Our recent stay at your property in LA was quite disappointing, especially considering it was our first time there. Room 1311, our initial accommodation, was in a deplorable state. Upon entering, we were greeted by a leak and hole in the ceiling and a musty odor, indicating poor maintenance. The room was also excessively dusty, suggesting a lack of attention to cleanliness. The bathtub was in dire need of repair, and the amenities provided were empty, with the packaging showing signs of wear and tear. It was shocking to think that the room had been deemed acceptable for guests by the housekeeping inspector. After requesting a room change, we were relocated following a conversation with Monica, during which I expressed my dissatisfaction. Before moving, I specifically requested that the new room be inspected by the housekeeping supervisor to ensure that the issues from the previous room were not present. However, the bellman who delivered the new keys seemed irritated by the task and offered no assistance with our move, merely handing over the keys and leaving abruptly. This lack of consideration was not what we expected from a hotel that had inconvenienced us so greatly. The second room, while somewhat improved, still left much to be desired. It appeared hastily cleaned, with only surface-level efforts made to address the previous issues. Additionally, we discovered nail clippings on the coffee maker, earrings left in a cubby, and hair in the bathroom, further adding to our dissatisfaction. These experiences severely impacted our perception of the hotel. We were deterred from dining at the hotel and were reluctant to explore any other amenities it offered. The parking garage experience was particularly unpleasant, with the installation of a new system causing delays and inconvenience every time we exited. During check-out, the only compensation offered was by the agent, who seemed to be the only person willing to acknowledge our concerns. After a lengthy discussion, he offered to comp one day of parking. However, this gesture did little to alleviate our disappointment. Despite my Gold Member status, which resulted in an upgrade prior to check in, I did not feel that our experience warranted 1 day of comped parking . Overall, this stay did not meet our expectations. We paid for a safe and clean room, which was not provided upon check-in. I regret not having read reviews before booking, as I would not recommend this hotel to others. The level of service and quality of the product were extremely subpar. I hope that our feedback can contribute to improvements in the maintenance of the rooms, ensuring that future guests do not experience what we did. After this experience and reading this review, I'm skeptical that the hotel will make any additional effort to rectify the situation. I doubt anyone else would be willing to...
Read moreThis is a prominent hotel right in downtown, in sight of city hall and part of Little Tokyo. We arrived about 8pm on a Thursday. There was room for us to pull under the overhang and unload before handing the keys over to a valet. Check in was fast, and our Doubletree cookies were perfectly hot and delicious. The lobby is massive and the elevators are not as obvious as in many hotels, but we soon found our way around.
We had a suite for our family. The hotel tower is triangle-shaped, and our room had an odd but intriguing shape at a tip. Our windows on the 19th floor offered a great view of the neighboring Japanese marketplace and southward. The bed was comfortable, and our teenage son slept well on the foldout sofa in the living room. The kitchenette includes a sink, an especially small mini fridge (the freezer portion only fit four of our thin freezer packs), and a coffee machine.
I’m unaccustomed to big city noise, and the downtown Los Angeles variety is different than other places. Not only was there loud club music and voices from the street, but more helicopters than I have ever heard before. If you're from a quiet place, be sure to bring earplugs! Thankfully, I did have some, and I did sleep better after the first night as I acclimated.
Across our three night stay, everything in our room worked without any issue. The shower was even pretty straightforward to operate and the water was hot quickly.
The valet cost was about $50 a day during our visit, with self-parking only a smidgen cheaper. Though the cost made us cringe, the valet service worked quite well. The workers were incredibly efficient. Whenever we requested our car, whether at 2pm or 5am, the car was out in about 2 minutes.
The location of this hotel is fantastic. If you love Asian foods, you'll find a broad variety within a short walk. Kinokuniya Bookstore and a Japanese market are directly connected to the hotel. Little Tokyo has tons of stores with anime, manga, plushies, and video game merch. I-10 is very close by, though if you haven't driven in LA, be aware that traffic is terrible for most of daylight (it took an hour to drive to Anaheim in the middle of the day). We felt pretty safe walking in the vicinity of the hotel; police headquarters is close by, and cops drove by all the time. There were some homeless people around but no major encampments, and everyone pretty much kept to themself. There wasn't even a lot of graffiti in the area.
The biggest negative is the cost for both the room and the parking. You pay for the accessibility to downtown, but that's just what you have to do sometimes to save time...
Read moreI wish I could give it negative stars for uncleanliness and rudeness of customer care associate following up after our attempted stay. Here are the cliff's notes of our full experience. Full experience below for anyone who wants to read that much. -Upon check in found, bloody booger on shower wall, whole room could use thorough cleaning and update, but bloody mucus is a deal breaker for us. -Moved rooms and room smelled of cleaner, but there was a raised stain on cover and multiple stains on sheets and pillow. Onsite staff was accomodating and initiated our refund for check out. -Customer care team following was rude and did not address the health and cleanliness issue until noted to a new customer care associate about it. -I really should have read all the reviews here first. There are many about the cleanliness. I'll do better before booking next time and will never book with Double Tree or Hilton again.
We checked in after a day of museums and art installations around LA. I booked Double Tree Hilton for the Little Toyo location and roof top garden. I always wipe all surfaces in our hotel rooms upon entering. I started wiping areas and noticed the door handles were visibility dirty around and on them. Things just weren't as clean as they should be. Not a complete deal breaker, then I entered the bathroom and saw a big booger with blood on it on the shower wall. I was so disgusted, I called my husband to check. He confirmed and then I headed straight to the front desk. If something like that was missed, there's no telling what else there was. They agreed to move us to another room and have housekeeping check it.
Even though we were already disgusted by the first room, we were exhausted and had dinner reservations shortly, so we moved to the next room. I wiped everything down and went to sit on the bed. I noticed a spot of something on the cover by the pillows. It was not a stain, but thicker. Could have been makeup I don't know. I pulled back the covers and there were 3 stains on the sheets and on the pillow. One of which, looked lie blood. At this point, we were done and there is no way we could comfortably stay at your hotel. My kids were incredibly disappointed, but they understood that the rooms were health hazards and we could not stay.
Especially in the times we currently live in, there should be more attention paid to the cleanliness of your hotel. Could you imagine if my children or I would have touched someone elses bloody mucus while trying to take a shower or sleeping in someone elses body fluids. I'm disgusted just thinking about it. It is...
