El Sushi — Restaurant in Los Angeles

Dinner Chirashi! I order this during lunch time and togo it when I am ordering a take out for my clients. Its a whole lot better than your average Chirashi in LA and I tried dozens of Chirashi. Premium chirashi for $33 is a steal. However, I am not a fan of spicy tuna or the cooked shrimp (would substitute it for amaebi instead). They also add monkfish liver! Try it, you’ll thank me.

I actually tried their lunch specials several times and didn’t like it, maybe its just me. Not a fan of california roll or the spicy tuna that comes with the lunch specials, not a fan of cutlets or the udons either. I wish they had better lunch options like 12 pieces of sushi only, a better miso soup with clams, more creative and quality fried tempura. Udon, cutlets, cali rolls, tuna rolls were just typical. So sadly, there’s nothing i would get on their lunch menu so I just order the dinner...

If you’re looking for high quality sushi at an affordable price, look no further. Among the myriad Korean-owned sushi restaurants in Koreatown, this one is a standout. Although the operation is small, the service is warm and attentive. But the food speaks for itself. I had the colorful, multi-layered chirashi bowl and it had a unique variety of fish and other ingredients I had not tried before in other chirashi. It was difficult to choose what to order since we wanted to try everything. Settled with sashimi, sushi and mussels. First the sashimi - extraordinarily fresh! And the plating tells you they prioritize quality. We also ordered the pebbles sushi. Perfectly prepared and the scallops were cooked just right. My favorite of the evening were the mussels!
