Iโve been going to Foods Palace for 30 years.
If you want to experience what real New York style Chinese food is about. The process. Then this is the place to experience all that.
Once you have that taste, everything else isโฆ Wellโฆ Everything else.
Itโs clean fresh food. The eggrolls are New York style. Theyโre larger. Theyโre more filling. They have a distinct taste that you carry with you for years.
Thatโs been my experience. The owners are exceptional people. They are so damn hard-working. And all they wanna do is make sure that the customer is happy.
Iโve introduced handful of friends to this restaurant. Friends that are chefs. One person was amazed with the broth for the wonton soup.
That was a stand out for him. Having that experience, he knew they cared about what they prepared.
I moved back to New York for a couple of years. And I did not find one Chinese restaurant in New Yorkโฆ That matched, but theyโre doing on pico.
One friend of mine out of the blue said that she is now a regular at Foods ever since I introduced her to it.
And they do a bang up, take out business.
If you want to go to some place, thatโs relaxing youโre just there to have fun. Have a good meal. This is the place.
Whatever you do, you go there you have to order the eggrolls and the wonton soup. Have that first. Then make your decision. Do you stay? Do you order one or two more dishes.
Oh, you decided that itโs not for you which is fine. But youโre going to be swept into a really nice wonderful experience.
And no, the owners didnโt pay me...

To have the peppers withheld from the vegetables is not enough when you serve an egg roll with peppers in it. Egg rolls do not normally have peppers in them, so I didn't hesitate to take a bite. It was delicious, but when I started to take a second bite I saw pieces of red pepper in the filling. The egg roll should have been withheld from the plate. Perhaps substituted with something that doesn't have peppers in it. The sweet & sour chicken was somewhat tasty, but the sauce was so simple it was boring. The service was good, other than ignoring the food allergy issue. The atmosphere is nice, but lacking any sort of sound absorption element to dampen the conversations of fellow customers. Curtains or some other sound dampening element would go a long way toward making the dining experience more...
ย ย ย Read moreWhile the war wonton soup was delicious and everything we had wanted from it. There in lies the two stars. Broccoli and garlic sauce was random sprouts of broccoli some cooked, some completely raw some overcooked itโs almost like the chef grabbed some from yesterday some from tomorrow, and a handful that was semi cooked today, threw it all in the same plastic tub and sent it on its way to us. I donโt know how a kitchen turns out a dish like this for $15. The volcano shrimp was battered, fried, and then soaked in a greasy sugary syrup sauce so that the batter went completely soggy. Again whatโs the concept behind this dish whatever it is, itโs dismal. The Mu Shu pork distinguishes itself as pleasantly edible in comparison. Honestly this day and age and with the prices at restaurants, a place like this needs to clean up its act or go out...
