Trattoria is reminiscent of a French bistro. Nestled in the heart of Los Angeles, Pico Blvd, we were pleased that they were open on Saturday night. Kosher eating has few options after Shabbat, so Trattoria gets points for that.
We ordered lots of stuff. The Shitaki Rigatoni was the fan favourite. They do a great job on the French onion soup, as you would expect from a fine French establishment. I would stay away from the Gnocchi. The pizza was unique and definitely worth a try.
We opted for the Ramon Cordova Rioja, it pairs well with pizza and pasta. That would be my only recommendation from the wine menu.
It is a bit overpriced, which is why I am giving it four stars, but the food is really good and I wish the service was a little better.
Here’s my full recommendation
Apps: Artichoke Dip, Nachos Soup: French Onion Soup Entree: Shitaki Rigatoni and any of the pizzas Wine: Ramon Cordova Rioja Dessert: Crème Boule or Chocolate Lava
The desserts are really something special. You can really taste the butter in the...

Long version: We went for a birthday dinner last night and the service kept getting worse as the night went on. We had to ask them for bread and then they brought way too little for a party of our size and kept giving us looks when we asked for more. As we were eating they would just reach around us and take our utensils and plates. They even took our pizza seasoning to give to another table. When we were passing around birthday cake there weren't enough plates for all of us. Some people ate off of napkins. The bill: First they refused to split our check even though we were a large party and then the manager was yelling at us for not getting up and paying downstairs. He even sent another family to our table to guilt us into leaving early. His justification was that we only have 2 hours to eat. His behavior made the...
Read morePlease do not go here! I’m not sure how this place has over 1 star. From the outside, it looks like a place with high quality food and with that comes big prices. Not a problem. First off, we waited 45 minutes for our food. Not so bad because it was relatively full and that’s not such a long wait for high quality food. I was severely mistaken. The food was horrendous! The garlic fries were cold and the pizza was average but came drenched in a bucket of oil. The worst was the gnocchi. It tasted microwaved and the marinara sauce had zero flavor. When I say zero flavor, it tasted like they opened a can of straight tomato purée and poured it over the microwaved gnocchi. Our reservation was for 7 people and 2 of us didn’t even touch the food after the first bite. Hopefully for them, this is an off night. But for that price, I would expect fresh pasta, fresh sauce, and hot food at...
