I visited Futaba for my first time about 2 weeks ago because my friends wouldn’t stop raving about it. Let me start by saying that if you have any sort of dietary restriction, avoid this place at all costs. They don’t care at all.

I ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen with chicken broth instead of pork and clearly told my server that I didn’t want chashu in my ramen because of my dietary restriction. As I’m eating my food, what do I find in my food buried under some noodles and broth? You guessed it - the chashu I specified not to include.

I was annoyed, but mistakes happen. My server apologized and said that she’ll have a new one made for me. I reluctantly agreed. When I got my “new” bowl of ramen, I noticed that there was a piece of a bamboo shoot that I had taken a bite out of from my previous bowl that was still in the “new” one, confirming that all they did was take the chashu out of the broth and add a little more soup/noodles to it to make it look like it was remade.

Even after this incident, the server had the audacity to offer to remake it again. I told her to take my order off the bill because there was no way in hell that I was going to pay for dishonesty. One of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I will never be returning.

TLDR: Dishonest establishment and mid food. If you have any sort of dietary restriction, don’t come here. Even if you don’t, there are plenty of better ramen spots in the...

This place is a hole in the wall, but honestly some of the best Japanese curry I have ever tasted! I go twice a year and it's amazing, once for my bday and whenever I am able to afford it. Prices went up but it's still good and the servings are ample. They could be better but I guess I don't go often enough to be a regular. Loved it so much I started making some at home and it's not half bad. They have anime pictures on the walls and lots.... I mean lots of those tiny and big Asian cats. You know the white one with the right arm raised above their head? Yeah that's the one. Anyways I have tried the ramen which is fire! They also give extra fishcake or extra (Naruto's) that's what we call them haha. The chef is nice and always comes out to say hello especially on Halloween cuz I go dressed in anime clothing. The lady is so sweet and always talks to us. The kid does a decent job of refilling our drinks when we are almost done with them so many thanks for that! I will absolutely continue to go whenever I can afford it and will always recommend it to...

I have been coming to Futaba for over 7 years and have not found better tonkotsu ramen in the whole LA Valley. I have tried many many Japanese restaurants, always trying to find the best place out there, but I never leave completely satisfied. I actually stopped coming to Futaba for over a year and today I decided to bring my kids as we were near the area. Coming today made me realize that I truly wouldn't recommend any other ramen place as much as I would this one. From the moment you walk in, the service, the atmosphere, everything makes you feel welcome. However, the best part is the taste, I wouldn't trade it. It makes you feel like you just went to Japan; a very traditional and flavorful ramen. I also liked that although most tables are for 2 people, they accommodated quickly for my party of 3. They gave us kids cups with a lid (which was a perfect save when my kid knocked it over), little utensils and plates. I appreciated their thoughtfulness on that regard, it saved me time trying to keep them clean during their meal....

A great find hidden on the second floor of a busy strip mall. Have had their curry twice now and loved it each time! The curry itself is really flavorful without being salty and the vegetables are perfectly incorporated. The katsu, chicken in the photo, is incredibly tender yet very crispy on the outside. Not oily or overly breaded and with a great bite all the way through. The side salad is yummy and I love the small plate of pickled veggies you get when you first sit down. Service is incredibly friendly and given the area the pricing is very reasonable. Especially given that the portions are quite size-able and well balanced. Will definitely come back and recommend you make the trip if you are on the fence.

Food here was excellent, except that the boba in the Thai tea, I felt like, was not fully cooked because the texture was a bit off. Other than that, the food and the service were exceptional. The sesame dressing in the salad was very tasty. The takoyaki was perfectly cooked. The agedashi tofu is a must try. Salmon egg dish was melt in your mouth. Char siu was good. Unagi was really really good too. The seafood ramen’s soup was buttery. In total, we paid $158 with the 9.something sales tax. Then, there was a 5.something card surcharge.

We were craving ramen, and we love Maru ramen’s bone broth, but Maru isn’t open for Sunday lunch so we decided to try a competitor that is basically across the street. Once there we recognized the place as a place we were rather unimpressed with before, but decided to give it another try. Glad we did! The food was tasty, and good portions and value. I like that there was a g.ood variety of options too. Server was friendly -place was busy but didn’t have to wait too long
