Golden Phoenix — Restaurant in Los Angeles

I don't recommend this Chinese restaurant to anyone who's looking to be a satisfied guest.

I spent $50 in delivery food/service including tip. I ordered from their menu on GrubHub. Received our food well under the quoted time. Was fairly satisfied with the majority of the food I ordered with the exception of one particular item I decided to send back. I drove over to the restaurant to possibly see what they could do with my dissatisfaction seeing that I and my family were still hungry. I spoke with someone I assumed was the manager. Very unprofessional and not friendly at all! I asked if he could exchange the item for something else I already had. He was very combative and refused to help. He continued to badger me about my knowledge of the menu in which he accused I did not read. He went on to repeat over 5 times that their physical menu states that you cannot send back food if you don't like it. This disclaimer was not mentioned on the site they shared with Grub Hub. I mentioned this and he said I had to take up this matter with Grub Hub................................................ I refused to argue with him as he began to get loud so I finally asked if he was willing to help make this right or not so I can be on my way. After much persistence and after threatening to write a review about their customer service, he finally excepted and exchanged the food item for something else I wanted.

When I walked into this establishment, it was empty with the exception of a couple who was eating quietly in the isle. This "manager" also allowed our conversation to take place in front of them including they're wait staff, insulting my intelligence and continuing to argue with me over this fickle situation. I didn't expect a refund, but with all SUCCESSFUL restaurants an experienced manager would've rectified the situation immediately.

I won't be eating here ever...

Absolutely horrible experience. Forced us to drive 40 minutes round trip to the restaurant after the driver delivered the wrong order. Without telling us, gave us food that had been sitting there for an hour and a half, when we called back to complain he told us to microwave it. Refused to refund our money unless we drove another 40 minutes to return it. No concept of customer service. Never again.

The food was incredibly expensive and not even that good. Would give zero stars if I could.

Update: About 30 minutes after I posted this review, the restaurant manager called back and agreed to refund our money. He continued to blame the problem on the driver, on us, on anyone but himself, but he did refund the money. To note, anyone posting here about the ambiance inside the restaurant isn't posting about the right business. This place is basically a storage unit with a locked gate. The man opens the gate and gives the food, you can't go inside, meaning HE gave the driver the wrong food.

Despite the refund, unfortunately, I can't change the rating. The food was very close to inedible. I ate a small portion of mine and ended up throwing the rest away. It tasted pretty bad and looked worse. My husband ate his, but only because he was starving after waiting 3 hours to get this issue sorted out. He paid $30 for a pork chop that looked like a pile...

Man on the phone was rude as hell and tried to make you talk fast so he can quickly get you off the phone but why would I do a thing like that I want to make sure I revive what I ordered , also I tip when a tip is deserved, and the way he acted on the phone i had no intention on giving a tip especially since I really don't have to , then when he gets here that smelly ass breath was even more disrespectful not to mention the he charged an extra dollar than what was said in the phone which he's lucky I even had more because I give exact change usually if I'm not tipping but anyway he told me the total was 29 bucks when he got there I gave him 40 that wasn't even my money I grabbed the food for someone else , he didn't even want to give me my money , he asked me how much I wanted back , obviously I want the change back if anyone wanted to tip you they would you don't hold people money hostage first of all and continued to not ask for a tip but said "come on give me a tip give me a tip" I hope you enjoyed that funky Ass extra dollar losers

(Update I've ate at golden Phoenix on and off for 17 years and most of them time I was a kid I had no idea they wasn't owned by the same people anymore that explains why my favorite BBQ pork rice I enjoyed when I first moved here wasn't the same or...
