Hansen's Cakes — Restaurant in Los Angeles

I imagine for a restaurant like this my review will not make much of a difference. I called Hanen's to order a cake, and the woman on the other line was incredibly rude. I told her that I wanted a lemon-rasberry cake. She then asked me how I would like it configured. I asked for clarification about the specifications she proposed, and she instantly became angry. Her tone became aggressive and impatient. She began to talk down to me. I really wanted to say forget it and hang up. However, I remembered this cake is for my mother's birthday. This is what my mother asked for by name. So, I endured her berating.

She then asked for my payment. Okay fine. I gave her my credit card number and part of the associated information, then without telling me what she is doing she puts me on a 5 minute hold. She then comes back on the line with frustration in her voice, and she snaps about how she ran the card 4 times and it doesn't work. So, I asked her to repeat the card number to me. It's correct. I know the card works because I'm looking at my bank account at that very moment. She then repeats the expiration date to me. It's wrong.

Literally. Had this woman been less snippy, more communicative, and patient. She would have asked me to repeat my expiration date before she put me on an unexplained hold and tried running the card. Then she would have saved herself 4 minutes.

Look, I get that celebrities eat at this restaurant. IDGAF. I've always thought their cakes were overpriced. I really don't need the disrespect to go with it. I like...

I love Hansen's Cakes. It is the Best Cake in THE USA, and tied top-cake in the world. Michael Jackson only ate Hansen's. Hansen's cakes made KimKWest wedding cake and had it flown to Italy... delicious! The Carrot cake is super yummy. A standard Classic is the Chocilate w Rasberry Zing & French Buttercream! The coffee flavor cupcake w chocolate cake is delicious. The Red Velvet is amazing. But, I love Lemon or White wedding w w ButterCrSesam. Cupcakes are very reasonable - so get some of each flavor and take your time to sample them.. you will find a favorite! Hansen's is all hand made by scratch. The develop each cake from a basic fundamental of a true cake confectionaire-they begin with wholesome natural farm fresh ingredients and build their masterpiece cake from scratch-weighing out the flour, cracking fresh free range eggs from Happy Healthy Hens, they buy the best creams w the highest quality grass fed dairy cows. It's a magical enterprise.. you'll love it! I do! I've been eating Hansen's si'c'e my first cake in 1970. So, 48 years later I'm still a fan. And-yes I try other shops and cakes and Hansen's is still my favorite. The Beverly Hills Staff are my Favorite people Bec they are so sweet to me. The Fairfax is the main bakery and it's a very busy bakery. Be nice and be patient and they'll return...

Me and my fiancé went here to do cake tasting since they are one of the places we can choose to make our cake for our wedding at Quiet Cannon. They gave us two binders of cakes to choose from and they were full of cakes that looked like they were from the 80s; they were all super outdated. We had some questions about what we can do to customize the cake to be what we wanted (understanding we would probably have to pay extra and we were ok with that) and the woman helping us was so rude and unhelpful we left. She wasn’t friendly, acted like we were asking for the most ridiculous requests (all I wanted was a white cake with gum paste flowers... that’s it) and ruined the experience for my fiancé and me. I’ve had better service at an Albertsons bakery. We ultimately went with a different bakery that was very courteous and helpful with the whole process and was a lot more willing to customize our cake than Hansen’s was.
