On my quest to find the most worth while pizza. I say worthwhile because from the point of view of any individual other than one I know(note I know of one who has never had it and doesnt care for it) pizza is never bad. So worthwhile in that it was worth every carb. The last great one was this place near Leimert Park by the name of Happy's Pizza. Gone now; dont know where they went. Then the one before Happy's was Buono's Pizza in Echo Park, now also gone. Unless these two have reopened since my last visit. So back to this review. DELICIOSO, SPANISH for finger licking damm good. Have to say have only had their pepperoni. Also try their meat lasagna. Plus the kicker, which if you have read my past reviews, the bathroom was EMACULATE AND DARE I SAY, SMELLED NICE! Which would have been a deal breaker since it's right by the kitchen. Clean spotless kitchen. Seriously delectable pizza. Also, added bonus, both times I have been there the host taking one's order has been genuinely nice. My kids are finicky and won't give their approval that simply but they love,...
Read moreWhen you are having Hard Times, Hard Times Pizza is there for you. You can eat a slice at Hard Times every day while you figure your life out. Sometimes the going gets tough and when that happens... the tough get going. Ru Paul said that, probably. When I first discovered Hard Times Pizza Co., it was early 2019 just before the pandemic hit. At that point in my life I thought "well, if we are all going to die anyway, might as well do something I love - eat pizza." Under the Bridge, Echo Park is where this Pizza shop runs. Under the Bridge, Echo Park is where I got to the know some of the Owners and Employees. Under the Bridge, Echo Park they even offered me a position with them.
What an honor. Perhaps they remember. Perhaps they do not. Life changed for us all after my brief encounter with Hard Times Pizza while going through hard times before times goes much much harder for us all. There is charm from what I can remember, but that was years ago now. Before the World...
Read moreHard Times Pizza Co.'s thick-crust Sicilian pizza is the best pizza pie I know of in the entire Los Angeles area. It's a crime that inferior places get all the publicity while Hard Times rarely gets mentioned on "Best Pizza" lists. I've tried most of the highly touted pizzas around town, and none of them are close. Most of them are the trendy Neapolitan type, which are so thin that 1 person has to eat an entire medium or most of a large in order to be filled up for dinner, while just 2 slices of a Hard Times Sicilian will be enough, so you get twice the pizza for your buck. It's a shame they're essentially only a take-out place. If enough people start to patronize them, perhaps they can move into a larger space with a sit-down room. (Hint hint.) My fingers...
