MOLDY BREAD/CAKE !🤢😔 (picture is not actual picture of my bread is just for reference so no one goes through what I did) Unfortunately I came across this place while driving in LA. I bought a bread like in the pic, which is a moist chocolate cake covered in chocolate. I took a bite with confidence and noticed a terrible taste but was too embarrassed to spit it out in front of other costumers and staff, so I ate it. As I was walking out of the stablishment I inspected the bread/cake wondering what ingredient gave it the bad flavor and unfortunately, to my surprise, it was mold! 🤮🙃 not just a little bit, the whole bottom had mold and also the middle. I made the mistake of not taking a picture to show how disgusting it was but I didn't want to have anything to do with that cake or even keep looking at it. I hope no one has to go through what I went through and the staff and management has better care. I never leave reviews but I really hope everyone checks their food/bread before...

I’ve been coming here since the day they opened, and for years this was one of my favorite spots. They had the best bolillos ever—always fresh, soft, and never stale. The chicken soup was amazing, and I loved pairing the bolillos with their red beans. During the holidays, you had to come early because they would sell out fast.

Unfortunately, things have changed. After years of being a loyal customer, I’ve noticed a sharp decline in quality and a huge increase in prices. What used to be affordable comfort food has now become a luxury, with one piece of bread costing what three used to. On top of that, the welcoming atmosphere that made this place special is gone.

The most disappointing part is the lack of cleanliness. Seeing rats in the kitchen was the final straw for me. It’s heartbreaking to say, but I can no longer recommend this place. It went from being a hidden gem to a place I won’t be...

Had came here for years, however just went now after a while and it was terrible. The sweet bread ears (oreias) looked like they were terribly made. Service sucked even more due to the two cashier girls that couldn't even figure out to give me a receipt after I ask them. They just looked at me like if I was dumb for asking for my own itemized receipt. I spoke to them in English, and in Spanish as I speak perfectly good Spanish, and they still looked at me like they did not know what I was talking about. I asked also separately to give me some bread. (bolillo) and they are two for one dollar which was OK but not if the bread was hard. Mind you I went at 9 AM in the morning I tried calling the number to speak to a manager and apparently there's no one in charge all day. Highly upsetting when you are used to food quality being awesome and now it's not what it used...

I can't remember what they are called (pan de Pina¿). It is the size and shape of a cupcake and it's hollowed. I think the "cupcake" is baked first then has its inside removed. Pineapple fills the hole and is capped with a cross. The top is brushed with something to make it shiny when finished. These are by far my FAVORITE pastries (pan). Not many bakeries offer them and when they do it's like only once a week. I know of one other baker located in Culver City that makes them on Friday. I first went to Huicho's on a Sunday during a Ciclavia Ciclamini and didn't see them but I bought a variety of pan to sample. I was in the neighborhood on a Wednesday and to my surprise there they were. I bought 6 - ate 1 that day - froze the rest. Mmm Mmm Good!
