Island Boy Cafe — Restaurant in Los Angeles

We are very excited there is a wonderful restaurant within walking distance. For the past two Sunday's a several of the neighbors have gotten together and walked down to the cafe for a mid-afternoon brunch. Each time has been a delicious dining experience; leaving us wanting for more. The portions are very large... can you say dogie bag! I love the grilled lamb, curry chicken and the shrimp (several pawns) pasta dishes. I get the 1/2 & 1/2, making sure my husband gets one of my other favorites. The dessert...Wow! The owner, who is also the chef uses his mothers recipes. You can taste the love. His lovely wife is very personable, stopping by the tables to welcome the guest. Stayed the night at Island Girl Bed and Breakfast above and enjoyed the complimentary breakfast ( I had pancakes with chicken sausage and my husband had scrambled eggs, turkey bacon and potates) the next morning. Room felt like home. Clean, comfortable bed, nice linen and essential provided. Minor things missing like towel hooks or rack and newer windows. We had an excellent breakfast there on a Friday morning. This is not a place to come if you are in a rush. It was definitely managed by people who care about their customers and the food they serve. The staff was very friendly and they were all family to one another so they take pride in what they deliver. We sat outside and the set up makes you feel like you are in a small restaurant in the Caribbean. Just gorgeous. Will be back...
