This place is pretty good, and I really like the BBQ chicken a lot. The Katsu is good too, but the bbq chicken is phenomenal, and the sauces that come with both are really yummy. We got the combos, which came with 2 scoops of rice and a scoop of macaroni salad, which was delicious. We also tried their spam, which is worth getting to cut up and mix in your rice. They give you pretty large portions of meat that could for sure feed two people, but make sure to get extra macaroni salad :)

I ordered the mix plate of beef and chicken. Chicken was okay. The beef tasted as if it were cooked earlier in the day and sat out for hours. The teriyaki sauce is extremely watery. They did not give me a full portion of short ribs and what they did give was full of fat. They threw in a bunch of rice under my meat to make it look like it was a full portion. $18 is a lot of money just to get rice and a little mac salad. I would suggest going anywhere else.

amazing experience! the lady at the cashier was super nice and spoke both english and spanish, which made everything so smooth and welcoming. the cook was incredible—he whipped up food for everyone so fast! i ordered a burger and a boba, and they were hands down the best combo ever. my mom got the bbq chicken and couldn’t stop saying how delicious it was with every bite. highly recommend this spot for great service and even better food! 💗💗

I haven’t been back since I wrote this review in 2009. I just remember the manager calling me because I complained to corporate.

Often times in life we think back to our firsts, first kiss, first date or first day of school. As I read over some of my restaurant reviews I began to think of my first. I use to work out at LA Fitness on Reseda and Balboa, next door was this Hawaiian Barbecue place. I won't even say the name because my experience was so bad. I walk in and the cashier gave me this empty stare as if it was too much to even pretend to smile and put on a welcoming face. I looked past her and I saw that none of the cooks were wearing hair nets or hats. In the back prep room was a standard circular fan so if anyone working back there has loose hair or dandruff it's going to float around the room and land on any and all surfaces which includes food. So I wrote a little letter to the company explaining my concerns. Out of nowhere the manager from that chain called me yelling at me. He asked me to tell him where in the law did it say that food handlers have to wear hair nets? Well I have had my food handler's card and renewed it more than once since I started cooking and yes it's there in the law that food handlers must wear hair restraints. He asked where in the Law it said that fans were not allowed in the kitchen. The only fan that is supposed to be in the kitchen to help with the heat is in the hood. The fans suck the hot air out of the kitchen and send it through the roof to prevent dust or dandruff from uncovered hair from floating and landing on uncovered food. After I hung up on the manager, after all I don't have time to talk to people who have no idea what they are talking about, I wrote to the company. I wrote a letter of condolence for the lack of intelligence in the person that they hired to run their restaurant and I wished them luck in finding someone qualified to replace him and then I forwarded the section of the law that spells out the reasons why all food handlers must wear hair nets.

By the way there is this wonderful Hawaiian Barbecue place right across the street from USC...

Had lunch with my coworker here I ordered the bbq mix plate. It comes with bbq beef, bbq chicken and short ribs. The chicken was great considering I never like the chicken. The beef and short ribs had a good flavor but I feel they should use a different cut of meat for the price they charge. They're both really thin which makes them a little dry . The macaroni salad tasted a little weird but when I added the bbq sauce to it, it made it taste that much better. The sauce is self serve in bottles next to the soda fountain. Heads up, the sauce is a little chunky but it tastes really good so dont freak out when you see it plopping out of the squeeze bottle. All in all I give this place an 8 out of 10. May come back if I'm ever...

My wife and I we're looking for a little touch of Hawaii. Last time we were in a Oahu, my wife discovered Loco Moco. The restaurant was quite busy and they're only two people working. We placed an order to go and as soon as we got in the car the Aromas got to us. I don't know how but we made it home and then dove in. My wife was very happy with the Loco Moco. There's a good portion, plenty of gravy, and of course rice and macaroni salad. We requested her eggs over medium and they delivered. I had a Kalua pork plate and the amount of meat was massive. I was only able to eat half and put the other half away for later. Of course my entree was also accompanied by rice and macaroni salad. L&L delivered and relieved us of our...
