(2023 comment): I made this review in 2021 and in 2022 the owners re-commented on my review changing it from rude to professional. It should have been professional from the beginning. This place is something else.
Let me start off by saying the portions are incredibly small for the price. Imagine making less than half of a box of spaghetti, putting half slices of cooked cherry tomatoes, a watered down sauce with some light chili oil over it and trying not to eat it all with one spin of your fork and paying $18 for it. I came to this place with a group. Other dishes were ordered along with some appetizers. The appetizers looked decent enough but lacked flavor. When I looked at the menu everything was about $21 to $14, I thought since it’s Italian they must have large portions for those prices since I’ve been to many Italian restaurants in NY. Got one of the pasta dishes that was $18 and can tell you, when it came out it did not look like it was worth $18. My girlfriend ordered a pizza that starts at $15 base price and any additional toppings is an extra charge around $2 to $5. When you picked up the pizza from the crust, the crust crumbled like a cracker. If it was cooked for longer it would have became dust at that point. Our server came by the table maybe 2 times at most and only the busboy was filling our waters. I can say that these 5 star reviews that I’m seeing for this place baffles me. I came hungry and left hungry with a...
Read moreWas there on a very slow Tuesday night, seems their attention is moreso on the flood of to-go and delivery orders they get based on what I was looking at. There were 2 adults and a child, and it was pretty chilly out and they said they can only wear us outside with a heater on. That was done, even though the inside was dead at 5pm.
Ordered our food and they would not sub one type of pasta for another either if offering to pay more because apparently the kitchen doesn't allow you to get pappardelle instead of spaghetti. I had waiter check with kitchen and they confirmed. That being said the waiter was never seen again and the heater wasn't turned on until 20 minutes of us being in the cold. Menu doesn't state no substitutions, even a simple one. Had to walk inside to request the waiter from the host who basically acknowledged the waiter was mad. Was going to order one other thing but waiter never came, food was delivered by a busser.
Never checked in on once.
Food was mediocre at best, no bread to start either. $24 for spaghetti and meatballs, laughable portion size, bread to pay for bread, no salt and pepper on table, which the dish needed bad, and the pasta was on the more undercooked side of Al dente. The other adults portion was even laughably smaller, we left hungry. Won't be returning, but if they can fix that attitude of the front and back of house and maybe beef up the portions it would be a...
Read moreYou know there are restaurants that you go for their food and there are restaurants that you go to just simply feel better when you feel little blue. Little Dom’s is the later kind. It has this New York City restaurants vibes, especially those old places have been around forever. I know it is not that much old, but they designed it so well that it gives you this old memories you never had. It all sounds cheesy, but I like to think that this place is for the people who spent their youth in east coast cities. So when I miss my twenties back in Brooklyn, I go here. The restaurant, the street where the restaurant is located, and the little neon sign says Little Dom’s over the door, they all make me feel better. And what is better comfort food than Italian American food like these? These juicy Meat balls and spaghetti with thick red sauce make me feel home a little bit. Not a huge fan of their aioli for the calamari because it makes the calamari taste little bit fishy, but who cares, I have the marinara sauce anyway. Overly generous amount of cheese on the chicken parm tastes amazing the next day too if you can’t finish it. Fried oyster sandwich is yummy too. I always get Blueberry ricotta pancake and their house made italian sausages when I come for breakfast. Just sitting here feels good. Their service is always friendly and personal. I hope this place becomes one of those places that people comeback...
