This place is truly a supernatural Bermuda triangle of a place, a modern marvel of some sort. Let me attempt to describe my experience.
The Brunch - (MUST HAVE RESERVATION) So we first came here for the 25 bucks 3-course brunch with unlimited mimosas. This part really gets a 3 star because of its portion size. Don't come too hungry because the food is barely feeling. The first course I started with the Apple Spiced Parfait with Spiced Granola. It was pretty tasty, small in size and rough on the throat when swallowed (I was really trying to lube my throat to get this down). The spoon was also ridiculously big for the cup they provided. But overall I thought it was really good for being a simple parfait. Probably would opt for the second choice which was the Creole Spiced Melon Salad with Pickled Rind and Citrus Vinaigrette. The second course was YUMMY!!! I loved the Stone Ground Grits, Blackened Shrimp, Roasted Mushrooms and Grape Tomatoes. I thought it was perfect. Some friends of mine needed hot sauce and pepper but I enjoyed it just as they made it. The texture was heavenly (esp after eating that harsh ass granola parfait) and the sauce was divine. I really would have just been happy with a huge serving of that lusciousness! The last course was a Deep Fried Bread Pudding with Rye Whiskey Sauce. This was amazing but soooooo sweet. I was too starving and craving savory I couldn't even finish it all. But it will certainly satisfy your sweet tooth! The mimosas were whatever and they were extremely slow on brining refills on the all you can drink so just be aware.
The Party- (Good idea to reserve table before hand or come early)
So we stayed for the Ice Cream Sundays which is basically a day party with a live DJ, you could get hookah (40 or 45 dollars) and sangria. They did have popsicles but that aint ice cream so IDK. But this event brings out the MOST interesting ppl I've ever seen. Maybe it's because I don't get out much but my lawdy the potential for people watching is just AMAZING, epic even. In one day (at this event) I saw Tyson Bedford, a woman in nothing but a shirt cleaning her murdered shorts, a unicorn and a man transform from a prince to a rat... Icant..
The DJ is amazing playing dance hall music and rap and 90's R&B. It gets way too packed to dance but it was a ton of socializing and most importantly PEOPLE WATCHING. It's a really eclectic group of people and I was amazing at how many black people were at this event. It's really a hidden gem a strange place that's inconspicuous and holds many...

I discovered this place earlier on in the year and I was pleasantly surprised. I started to frequent and introduce more friends to this place. My friend went 2 weeks ago without me and reported that a heavier set bouncer was treating her quite badly.
Then on Friday we went together. Just the 2 of us. We had 2 drinks and were dancing by the dj. All of a sudden the same bouncer is signaling to me that my friend needs to leave. I was highly confused and asked why. He said she was too drunk. (We had 2 drinks) and my friend is not someone to get drunk and act the fool. I told him she was more than fine and that the group of men next to us were very drunk and maybe he should pay more attention to them. He then turns to tell me I must leave to because I am drunk. I couldn't believe we were being treated this way. And mind you it is a freaken lounge that serves alcohol. People are going to be drunk. If they don't like that then serve juice.
So I head outside to talk to the doormen that I recognize from past times. They inform me that sometimes this particular bouncer can be aggressive. The bouncer then comes out and the doormen switch their story to be on his side. Mind you I am recording all of this on my phone because social media is a powerful thing. One of the bouncers snatches my phone out of my hand. I demand for him to give it back. He does.
Then my friend realizes her ID and card is still at the bar. They refuse to give back my friends ID and credit card that she used to create a tab. At this point we don't care to go back inside or explain that she did nothing wrong, we just want her property back. I demand to speak to the manager and she refuses to check for my friends property too.
(During this time we see multiple men very intoxicated and rowdy exit the place and the bouncers and doormen give them high fives and laugh with them as they exit.) I then call the police to try get my friends belongings back (of course they didn't do anything) and we ended up leaving without my friends card and ID. The next day they miraculously find her ID and card and return it back to her.
I couldn't believe this treatment and it really upset me to my core to the point of tears. It is 2015 and these things need to not happen any longer. It is obvious that I will no longer be coming here and urge other people to do the same. These practices should never be rewarded....
Read moreThis is NOT a safe space for Black People specifically Black Woman. The bar staff (except the one Black bartender) and the security staff AND managers have an unfounded affliction to treat Black People and Black Women unfairly. I have witnessed their ignorance towards other BW and have experienced it myself to the point where the only Black Male bartender on staff makes it a point to service me as he has seen the way the other bartenders have actively ignored my presence on multiple occasions. One bartender of Latino decent in particular ALWAYS gives me a difficult time when ordering and paying for drinks.
On one occasion he ignored my presence while he found anything to clean other than servicing me during a packed night. When I expressed my discontent with this he asked the security to kick me out and they declined to do so.
On the second occasion he was hounding me about payment when I was clearly in my phone making a transfer in order to pay he repeatedly insinuated that I did not have money to pay and asked security to kick me out again. This time they erroneously obliged his request making a scene clearing a huge path for a 5 ft petite woman who was simply standing in the same place at the bar, chatting, and transferring funds. I am under the full impression that it is his intention to attempt to humiliate Black Women due to some racist agenda and the establishment itself, that profits off of Black Culture, aids him in doing so.
These people will take your money and treat you like a subordinate class. I STRONGLY advise against the Black Community supporting this establishment. As someone who enters spaces with respect, positive intentions, and the finances to enjoy myself accordingly this continued inappropriate racist treatment is unacceptable and so unfounded that the only explanation is a distaste due to skin color and stereotypes about socializing, paying, and tipping. BLACK WOMEN THIS IS NOT A SAFE SPACE FOR YOU! DO NOT COME HERE! DO NOT SPEND BLACK DOLLARS HERE! From the amount of complaints in the reviews below some class action suit will likely be filed for equal protection violations VERY SOON! Very sad especially in this...
