Where 'Whiplash' meets 'The Man Who Wasn't There' meets a beehive— let me elaborate In my last video l've mentioned how my first choice when going to a coffee shop is their specialty coffee, if they have one- if not, Iced Americano it is. The second I walked in here, I knew I wasn't leaving with an Iced Americano. You walk into an 'Espresso Club' after all. Polished-wood bar counter, leather seats and non-forced vintage ambiance takes you to a 60s NY lounge after a long day of your Mad Men era job in the city. While you get accustomed to the environment, you see beyond the bar where handful of baristas work in a controlled chaos — aka harmony— like in a beehive. Your sesame is being roasted right in front of you for your "Espresso Black Sesame" with the precision of Fletcher from 'Whiplash' while you slowly drift your eyes to the TV. You see men in suits in a black and white screen, in a courtyard for a trial trying to convince one another.
What better way to wait for your coffee as you glance over ‘The Man Wino Was' There, playing on TV to complete the atmosphere.
Beautifully patterned tall glasses, unique matcha grinders— even a recognition certificate from the U.S. House of Representatives, of all things, sets up the tone for your visit to this Club.
Oh, and the music. If you're an avid coffee enjoyer, and a bit of an old-soul like myself, I'" just give you the tools for your imagination for what kind of music was the background of this experience, and your mind will do the trick. I think the words I used to my wife was, "Not to sound too LA, but this music is what eases my soul", so.
I'll set the scene: You went to a coffee shop that's called an 'Espresso Club', with the right amount of vintage jazz lounge all over it. Everything from the music, to the beehive, to the movie was part of a grand choreography. Even the address sounds as if it's...
Read moreLoop Espresso Club is a classy high-end coffee shop on Colorado blvd in Eagle Rock section of LA. There are only a few coffee shops in the area and I gotta say LEC has the best interior sleek classy design and layout. They serve a modest selection of coffee, tea and pastries albeit limited.
I came (as a first time customer) on a cool Sunday morning to grab a coffee. You’ll immediate notice upon entry the vibrant atmosphere and their wooden full bar. Similarly, their chic light fixtures, furnitures and music records were easily noticeable. I ordered a Cappuccino, and it was good. I liked it but the price, however, not so much. lol.
It seems this coffee shop is very popular amongst the locals, it was already at full capacity. Service was on point. Coffee/Tea and pastries were as high as the consumer price index. Parking (metered and public lots) are available. Wifi available.
Collectively, this coffee shop is the créam dela cream of coffee shops in Eagle Rock. I would definitely come back but not anytime soon. I recommend this...
Read moreIs it just me or the concept of bar-ish like coffee kinda flourishing lately? It’s so much fun for me finding myself drowning amidst the crowd yet able to get myself focused while sipping my cup of joe. Yes, I loved that kind of busy ambiance with people are busy with their own selves as well LOL.
The lighting was prolly kinda dimmed for my liking, but I loved the classic ambiance. It’s their Miel Cream Top for this visit, with iced cold brew paired to vanilla honey cream. As expected, it’s quite strong but they did offer adding splash of milk if you fancied something lighter. It would also suit you when you preferred less sweet coffee. One small thing but I did appreciate was they would serve your drink in non-single-serve cups when you said you would...
