Lowboy in Echo Park hits the sweet spot for a chill night out. It's a smaller bar with a cool atmosphere, perfect for catching up with friends or a casual date. Indoor seating offers a variety of options - comfy booths, bar stools, and regular tables. The lighting is dim, and the music creates a fun, upbeat vibe, but it's not a dance club by any means.
There's limited seating both indoors and outdoors, with the outdoor patio being the quieter option if you want to chat without shouting over the music. They offer a solid selection of drinks and bar bites. We opted to skip the food and focus on the cocktails, and let me tell you, they were impressive!
Señora Martinez Stirred: This one was a balanced and complex tequila drink. The nectarine-infused Noilly Prat gave it a subtle sweetness, while the Brucato Amaro added a touch of bitterness that kept it interesting.
Strawberry Fields Cobbler: This Pisco-based drink was a fruity delight. The strawberry and pamplemousse combo was refreshing, with hints of rhubarb and cardamom adding surprising depth.
Sunset 75 Spritz: This was one of our favorites. The Buddha's hand vodka added a unique floral note, balanced perfectly by the Chambord and the tartness of the concord grape and raspberry. The lemon myrtle tea added a touch of earthiness that really tied everything together.
Granny's Green Juice: Another winner! Don't be fooled by the name. It was surprisingly light and refreshing, with the mezcal adding a smokey depth that was beautifully complemented by the lemongrass, yuzu, and kiwi.
Tropical Oasis: This rum concoction was a tropical vacation in a glass. The banana liqueur and Dr. Bird pineapple rum created a sweet base, while the soursop and mango added a touch of exotic flair. The coconut cream and lime brought it all together for a creamy, beachy finish.
Out top 2 favorites were Granny's Green Juice and Sunset 75 Spritz.
The service at Lowboy was attentive and fast, and the fries were a perfect salty companion to all the delicious drinks. Just be warned, parking can be tricky in the area. But if you're looking for a cool bar with amazing cocktails in Echo Park, Lowboy is definitely worth...
Read moreI come to Low Boy often but today was by far the WORST service I’ve experienced, I’m livid.
First, our server (a guy with locs) was so soft spoken, you could barely hear him. When we communicated to him that we wanted to move inside due to the heat outdoors, he didn’t say anything or notify the kitchen - he just simply wiped our new table down. We then proceeded to wait 30+ mins (never once checked on) for our food and the food was brought out to our previous table. Another party had to tell the runner that we moved tables and then the runner was getting ready to serve us the food that he sat on our first table for the new folks sitting there but we asked for a new order because…ew no - I literally watched the new party touch the food. We waited another 10-15 mins for that and once we got the food, the burgers were good but we realized they pretty much gave us the fry scraps. AND, we never saw our server again! I had to grab another server’s attention just to ask for extra sauce. I watched her serve her tables and never once request the sauce. Finally, a third server came over, with short brown hair. She requested the sauce for us but her energy was off. (She had just given us great service the weekend before.)Out of all three servers, no one bothered to give a water refill or ask if we were good. When we left, we just received nasty looks. You would’ve thought our presence was an inconvenience to them. The service was so terrible, I...
Read moreI came here on a date last night, the drinks were decent so we decided to order some food...the food was rotten, I'm not exaggerating it smelt like dog poop, rotten food, like a garbage can. I complained to the manager in charge tonight and called the food “Trash” and instead of fixing the issue he took it personally and decided to kick me out without even issuing a refund, just because I was upset about his poor service and having eaten foul food, it's unacceptable, bad business & service. I will be contacting the Los Angeles Public Health Agency & the Better Business Bureau about this, it's disgusting that my date and I had to eat rotten food only to be kicked out for valid complaining. The manager got in my face and put hands on me, and then called security when I told him not to touch me. All I did was complain about being served rotten food, they should simply examine the food and then issue the refund no need to get physical, deciding wether or not I should file a lawsuit for being physically touched & forced out, not happy at all,...
