TLDR great home cook style meals with amazing staff. This is our new go to restaurant. Looking forward to trying all the new dishes.
Located on the second floor in the same plaza as Nijiya and Beard Papa, it's not hard to spit from the road. There is underground self/valet parking in the plaza and metered parking on the street.
My boyfriend and I love Midoh and used to drive from LA to rowland heights to their original location, so when we heard a new Midoh was moving into the Curry House spot, we couldn't think of a better replacement.
The restaurant has seating available outside on their balcony as well as in front of the restaurant. I prefer the balcony as it has a nice view of the street.
Service as always is exceptional. The chef is super accommodating if you have any issues and the waitresses are kind and patient.
As for food, I don't think you can go wrong with any dish, they all have a unique homecook flavor. Something to note, the dishes are a few dollars more at this location than in Rowland Heights. It is not unexpected given the location, but something to keep in mind.
Almost every dish comes with soup and salad. My favorite dish is the Vongole udon; the soup is light and flavorful and the panna cotta is the dessert that ties everything together. My boyfriend loves their Katsu Sando and Omurice. However, if you are a regular Rowland Heights Midoh fan, there are some changes to note. The Katsu Sando does not come with a soup and salad (but you can add the soup for $2 and salad for $1!) and you will have to ask for the tartar sauce. For the omurice, the rice is curry rice instead of a ketchup base, which was an unexpected surprise.
They also have a few new items on the menu. We haven't gotten around to trying everything, but we greatly enjoyed the red bean cheesecake.
For those who have a food allergy, please make sure the kitchen knows. The curry has peanut as...

After traveling Japan for a month earlier in the year, I was craving Japanese food, so we checked out this spot off Sawtelle. 1 hour of parking is complimentary in the underground lot, but the attendant will charge you for any additional time. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor on the right side of the complex.
The atmosphere of the place was nice and I enjoyed the booth seating, but the service was very minimal. We had to ask for drink refills and wave down our server for everything from initial ordering to the check.
The udon I ordered was actually really tasty and came out super hot. It was on the sweeter side and the tempura shrimp on top was well cooked, but was lacking salt. I'd recommend taking it out of the bowl to eat little by little so it doesn't get immediately soggy. Unfortunately the egg inside was cooked weird and still had shell bits on it.
The Carbonara was very creamy, but needed more seasoning. The ham added some saltiness, but it needed more. Maybe they could add dried seaweed flakes on top? Overall however, this meal was too heavy and too large a portion. If the dish had more elements to it that balanced out the heaviness, perhaps half the amount of noodles and sauce and a side salad instead, it would have been a more...

I ended up getting their Nabeyaki Udon and the Takoyaki for an appetizer. The Takoyaki was well done. It had a good amount of bonito flakes on top and meaty pieces of octopus in the center. For those that don't know, takoyaki is a Japanese style street food made of a chewy dough with octopus or some other goodie in the middle. They do a good job here so I'd try it out if you haven't had it before!
The Nabeyaki Udon was good too. It came with a complimentary side salad. The noods were very hearty and the broth was just right. It well balanced--not too salty! The chicken was a bit overcooked, but the soft boiled egg was good. The tempura shrimp was also made well. Overall, a good udon dish that was satisfying.
The hit for me was the service towards the end. It got to the point where I just went up to the front to pay the tab since no one checked up for a longer than usual wait time. I wanted to get dessert here, but decided against it because of it.
Other than that, a decent place to check out, but I wouldn't go...
