A strong disappointment! My dinner was probably far too unjustified compared to my expectations. Out of everything I ate, the only thing I actually liked was the pork fat. I ordered borscht, coffee, a waffle cake, and kvass.
The borscht was served quite nicely, with two small pieces of black bread, a couple of bits of pork fat, garlic, and green onions. BUT, the borscht itself only had two tiny pieces of potato and two tiny pieces of meat! I am not exaggerating—literally two super small potatoes and two super small chunks of meat for the whole bowl. This is absolutely not what I expected to see in borscht, especially since I was born and lived in Ukraine for a long time, and honestly, I’ve never seen anything like this before—certainly not for a $20 dish.
The cake was completely dry and not soaked at all. The coffee was just slightly brownish in color and tasted bad. On top of that, the coffee was served in a cup without a handle. I don’t know who came up with this idea, but it’s absolutely ridiculous, because I had to wait until the coffee cooled down just to physically be able to hold the cup!
Also, I ordered kvass, which I wanted to drink with my meal, but they only brought it 20 minutes later, when I had already finished eating. And when I asked where my coffee and cake were, the waiter said they weren’t even in his orders!
I don’t want to sound toxic, and the idea of the café itself isn’t bad, but as it turned out, the café only looks attractive from the outside, while the quality of the dishes and the service do not match the stated prices. Unfortunately, this is the first and last time I will be visiting this café—the feeling of disappointment still lingers. I hope the owners take these shortcomings into account and make improvements in the quality of food...

I've eaten at Mom, Please twice now. First me and some friends got brunch there a few months back. At the time they had a limited starting menu but we loved everything we had and also adored the beautiful mugs and dishware that we were told also came from the Ukraine.
For brunch we had, and we recommend, the Mocha and Cortado both were perfectly made. We got the Kebab meatball pizza which was a perfect flavorful meal (a little greasy but in that perfect brunch kind of way), the Cottage cheese pancakes with cranberry sauce and then also with chocolate (I preferred the cranberry of the two but they were both enjoyed), dumplings both chicken with gravy (sauce) and potato with mushroom sauce (both were very tasty, I preferred the chicken if I could only have one).
Then last week some friends and I ordered dinner through Postmates. We got a bunch of stuff to share. The Meat pizza was my favorite. Both the Cesar salad & Greek Salad were tasty. The Cesar salad had some chicken pieces that were nice and the Greek Salad was also really good but I wish they used kalamata olives versus black olives. The Turkey dumplings were also so good. Others liked the Salo, which wasn't my jam, but you can pass on the rolls (pampushka) which were kind of underwhelming. The rest of my friends liked the strawberry dumplings more that I did but pasta and fruit are just not something i tend to enjoy. Aside from the rolls, the rest traveled well and I'd recommend...
