A New World of Stir-fried Jjamppong! A Perfect Combo with Tangsuyuk and Jjamppong. I recently visited LA Hong Kong Banjeom and had an incredibly satisfying meal that exceeded my expectations. The taste of the Stir-fried Jjamppong, in particular, was truly impressive! On this day, I ordered the Stir-fried Jjamppong, Jjamppong, and Tangsuyuk. The first dish I must mention is, without a doubt, the Stir-fried Jjamppong. The fantastic harmony of deep, wok-fried seasoning, fresh seafood, and crisp vegetables was simply incredible. It retained the signature spicy kick of jjamppong while being stir-fried, which concentrated the rich umami flavor even further. The noodles were also perfectly coated with the sauce, making every bite a delight. If you visit Hong Kong Banjeom, I highly recommend trying the Stir-fried Jjamppong! The Jjamppong, faithful to its classic form, was also excellent. The spicy and refreshing broth would be perfect for a hangover cure, and thanks to the generous amount of seafood and vegetables, it had an even deeper flavor. It offered a different charm from the stir-fried version, providing a clean and enjoyable taste. Lastly, the crispy and chewy Tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) was, without question, a perfect side dish. The batter was savory, the meat was tender, and its combination with the sweet and sour sauce was exquisite. It perfectly balanced the spiciness of the jjamppong while also being a delicious dish on its own. Overall, my visit reaffirmed that LA Hong Kong Banjeom is a Chinese restaurant you can trust for a great meal. The Stir-fried Jjamppong, especially, was so satisfying that I'd call it the best I've ever had. If you're craving delicious Chinese food in LA, you won't regret choosing Hong...
ย ย ย Read moreI was craving for some noodles for dinner but I was getting tired of eating ramen and happened to stumble upon Paikโs Noodle ๐๐ผ. The restaurant was a little dark but the space was cozy, clean, and spacious. The bathroom was also relatively clean and is located at the back of the restaurant. Customer service was friendly and efficient. My food was served within 10 minutes. If there is a downside to dining in here, itโs their parking. You are forced to hand over your keys for valet parking (we didnโt mind paying for it, we just didnโt like that they just get to sit in your car with us not having a say in the matter).
The food:
Jjamppong ๐ถ๏ธ๐ท๐ฆ๐(9/10): This spicy seafood noodle bowl was enjoyable! The broth had a perfect blend of spice with a little hint of salt! The pork meat was easy to chew and it was seasoned perfectly. The squid was also delicious. However the noodles were a little bit on the soft side. Nevertheless, the portion was generous.
Chili Jajangmyeon ๐ถ๏ธ๐ท๐ (7/10): This was nothing to get excited about. I have tasted something similar to this in many other restaurants. However, I did enjoy the meat on this dish.
Hong Kong Wings ๐ (10/10): This was my favorite dish of the day ๐. The portion was generous, the chicken was fried to perfection and the meat was juicy. I enjoyed every bite of it. It kind of reminds me of Kyochon but this was more satisfying because you could taste the sauce even on the meat itself. Totally recommended.
Overall, it was a good experience eating here and we enjoyed the food, but the mandatory valet parking was a little bit annoying to say the...
ย ย ย Read moreEver since coming back from Seoul, Korea, I always have a craving for jajangmyeon. Unfortunately, there are every few places in Edmonton that make a good version of this. When we were in Los Angeles, I was determined to have this dish at least once. While walking through Koreatown, we came upon this little restaurant. Quick Google search showed us a 4/5 star rating, so we decided to try it out. When we walked in at 4:30, the store was pretty quiet, but within 15 minutes, the restaurant started filling up. There were a lot of Koreans, so we were feeling pretty good about our choice.
We ordered the jajangmyeon (noodles with black bean sauce) and jjamppong (spicy seafood soup with noodles), and we were impressed! The jajangmyeon had really amazing flavour. Great balance of sweetness from the black bean sauce and savouriness from the pork. The noodles also had a great bite to them. It definitely satisfied my craving! My husband had the jjamppong. The seafood was cooked perfectly, and the soup had just the right amount of kick to it. Absolutely delicious!
The portions are huge, and for the price, I really have no complaints. Both dishes cost us less than $20! Is it better than what I had in Seoul? No. But very comparable. l would not hesitate...
