Discrimitory establishment. I was publicly humiliated and denied service because I have a disability.
I entered the restaurant and was greeted warmly by one of the staff members. She asked me if there was an area that I would prefer to sit, I indicated a space next to the wall where my service dog and I would be out of the way.
My service dog immediately laid down, and the server asked for my order. I placed my order.
When the server came back she asked me kindly for my “service dog card”. I explained to her that unfortunately the government does not issue any cards. (Look it up, they don’t. I wish they did because it would make my life a lot easier.) I stated that the federal law prohibits establishments from requiring any specific documentation but that they can ask two questions 1) is this a service dog (yes) 2) what tasks is it trained to perform (she is trained to provide medical alerts and to render aid in medical emergencies)
The server said that it wasn’t her but the manager that was demanding paperwork. I asked her to get the manager. Instead of sitting with me and having a quiet conversation he demands in front of everyone that I provide him paperwork. When I told him I couldn’t provide a “card” he told me in front of everyone to leave. He claimed that the California department of health would shut him down if he had a dog in the building without a “license”.
I did my best to try and show him the ADA rules, asked for him to go look up the California food department recommendations for serving people with service dogs. I even offered to show him a medical letter, offered for him and I call the provider. I asked to speak with his manager, he told me he was the manager. I asked to speak to the owner, he said the owner was a corporation. I asked for his name, he wouldn’t give it. I asked for the corporations phone member and he said that they don’t have a phone number.
He told me to leave, and that if I didn’t he would call security.
At this point the whole restaurant was involved. I left the situation feeling very sick. I had to go sit down on the floor in the subway down the street because I felt so dizzy and was about to pass out.
All I wanted was a nice light fresh meal after...
Read moreFood is a hit-or-missed with inconsistent quality. We stayed at the Westin LAX (close by) and ordered food from this place 3 times. The first time, we ordered to-go with express noodle soup deal ("shrimp" and "boat"), and fried chicken wontons. The soup bowls are good, with decent broth. The wontons are over fried and hard. I had to put the fried wontons in my bowl of noddle soup to soften 'em up. The second time, we dined in. Waiter was ok. I ordered Duck Curry ($15) and it was coconut curry with chopped up chinese roasted duck slices. The slices were not that many and with that much of "duck" I couldn't help but thinking - how is this dish different from other curry dish on the menu? (which is at least $3 cheaper). Duck was also not that fresh - my taste buds told me. The third time, we waited at our table for 20 mins before the first dish was served then the cook messed up our order by not making the fried wings. The fried wings finally came out once we almost finished with the noodle bowls. Wings tasted salty and sour (not intended to be sour) and from the texture of the meat, my taste buds told me - again - that those pieces were left for too long in the refrigerator. Wings cost $8.5 for 6 pieces.
From this experience, we believe there are much better places in LAX that will give you much better quality per $12.5 average dine-in price tag. If you have to eat at this place, I can only recommend the noddle soups. Please stay away from...
Read more. Coming in we noticed it was empty , and a LOT of flowers, but we were starving from traveling and this was walking distance. ( Next to our airport hotel). I’m fan of Thai food, and my favorite curry is Panang ( name of restaurant). I was thinking maybe is a good one. I ordered It and was very liquid curry, LOT of pineapple, and almost not veggies, far away of a good Panang curry with a few pieces of duck. My husband ordered a shrimp noodle it was ok, dish that come with beef, chicken or pork, he doesn’t eat meat so he ordered shrimp instead with an extra charge of 3 dlls. Ok $20 my dish $23 his plus a beer. We got a bill of $61 dlls Taxes and 15% service was included AND suggesting leaving and extra tip of 15,18 or 20 like for what?? When they already charge the service . Put attention if you go and don’t leave extra tip when is already included. To finally go and pay to find out if you pay with card is and extra 4%. Well We finished paying $64 dlls for two dishes mine horrible and when we pay I crossed the street and went to another place to have more food. Because I ate so little. If you spend over $60 Dlls in a Thai humble place at least you expect to be good. But here was not a good experience. They also have only one person to do all. So she’s always running ( even without costumers). We were wondering how about if they get busy ? Long review but I was very disappointed and wanted...
