Let me start off by saying I do not post negative reviews of businesses because I understand how hard it is to run one, but I am extremely disappointed with Player One Arcade Bar and how they handled the verbal harassment that occurred toward myself and another female friend of mine who both attended the bar last Friday. They did not back us up and they did everything they could to silence us. This harassment was from an employee they hired for the night - the cosplaying guy who dresses up like the Mandolorian and skates around LA.
A group of us were there to have a good time and casually play games and chat. None of us were drunk or belligerent, causing a scene, whatever all the normal reasons are for kicking people out of bars, we we were doing none of them. Then, literally out of nowhere, cosplaying Mandolorian starts verbally attacking my female friend, and then starts verbally attacking me. It was like witnessing a person with major anger management issues projecting onto us. My friend was honestly scared for her safety and was brought to tears by this guy screaming in her face. It was super upsetting.
When I held my ground, he stormed away (likely to speak with the management). We moved to another side of the bar away from him and continued to try to have a good time regardless of the harassment. Then next thing we know, our large party of 8 was all being escorted out of the bar and told we were banned for the night. The owner Chris insisted it was for our (mine and my female friend's) safety.
All of us were extremely confused, but we went elsewhere for the night. I returned the next day to speak with the owners to better understand what had happened - because I have never in my life been kicked out of a bar, no less BANNED, for doing nothing other than being harassed by THEIR EMPLOYEE, and then ejected for "my safety". Chris stated that another reason for the ban was that we had insulted or instigated the Mando cosplayer, none of which is even remotely true. We barely even acknowledged him, and the bar security tapes prove that.
Owner Chris Brooks explained that regardless of who was to blame, he foresaw a fight breaking out, and that he had to diffuse the situation. Fine. He said he also banned Mando cosplayer from working there. Great. But then when I asked if we were banned just for the night or forever Chris stated that it was forever and the decision was not his, but the other co-owner's Annique's, that we had to take it up with her.
She has been refusing to talk to us.
You would think that as a woman, Annique Arredondo would at least be sympathetic enough toward the two women in her establishment who got harassed by a man she hired. Instead, she silenced us, and refuses to speak to anyone who was there that night to get the true accounts of what happened and not just blindly side with her employee.
I am really disappointed and hurt by this decision, as Player One has been a bar I've frequented, never had a previous issue there, and always encouraged others to be a patron there as well.
Obviously I will never return to this establishment and I will actively tell my friends, coworkers, and anyone else who will listen not to spend money here...FOR THEIR SAFETY. Not only did they create an unsafe environment by hiring this aggressive Mando cosplayer in the first place, they continue to try to cover up their mistake by dismissing the women affected by his harassment. Their behavior condones bullying and silencing victims while avoiding accountability. They clearly have no respect for their patrons.
By the way, Mando cosplayer was also yelling at us without wearing his helmet. This is...

Read moreThis place is so so good... I went for the very first time last weekend and i was so impressed. My friends and I initially stopped in just to check it out and we ended up staying all night... They have every arcade game you could possibly want, drinks galore (vodka Red Bull being my personal fave), and and INCREDIBLY friendly staff.... This place gets so many things right but what where it really exceeds is its customer service, atmosphere, and energy. The bartends, owners, and even security team are so nice while they worked tirelessly for a completely packed house. I know if my business was that popular I would have a panic attack from just how many people were wanting more drinks. They even had a DJ that one was very handsome and two played remixes of classic video game music that really just brought the whole place to life. I can absolutely guarantee that I will be here week after week. I'm so thrilled I can enter this new post-covid era with a new...
