Scoops — Restaurant in Los Angeles

I’ve been a fan of Scoops for more than a decade now tracing back to their location in East Hollywood. Of all the delicious homegrown LA ice cream shops (thinking of Afters, Wanderlust, Magpies) and transplants (Jeni’s, McConnell’s, Salt & Straw), Scoops stands out for both its creativity, excellence, and humble local vibes. A recent poll with my wife and kids of our favorite ice cream we’ve ever had, Scoops’ brown bread was first or tied for first for all four of us. If you’ve never had it, it is the one flavor that never changes at Scoops, and it is sheer perfection.

Hard to say no to a spot with non-dairy ice cream! I was visiting Donut Friend next door and decided to pop in to try out the ice cream here. I got a kiddie scoop of the vegan caramel oreo. I was hoping for caramel ribbons in the ice cream but instead there was a salty caramel taste to the oreo ice cream. Not bad though. Many flavors, including 4 non-dairy and a few more sorbets. The sign posted on the door didn't full match the available flavors inside (weird). We also waited for a while before anyone came out of the back to greet us. BEST ICECREAM I EVER HAD!! Seriously!!! I had my fair share of trying out ice cream stores in LA. Jeni’s, Wanderlust, Van etc… I love them all, I never say no to icecream, but this icecream seriously has one of the best textures. I had Brown bread, Mint chip, lychee, and Whiskey Vanilla.
