Best tamales in el sereno!! Menudo all week is a huge plus!! I love this place and will remain a loyal customer!!

I'm coming back to leave an updated review. Since my last post about 3 years ago, I found out that ownership has changed. This happened early this year (2025). The menu has gotten a little bigger with a few new items added. My family and I still enjoy our Sundays here. The first time we had been back since new management took over, the lady there was very nice and our food came out quick and was very good. Today, 3-23-25, food again was very good but service was beyond slow. I waited close to 45 minutes for my food, the tamale breakfast plate. My son had ordered just two tamales and they had forgotten to bring them out. The tamales were hot when they brought them out, but forgetting about his food was a little messed up. By the time I had gotten my plate, my sister in law and mother in law had already finished their food. The food was very good, don't get me wrong, but waiting was a bit overboard. I hate to drop my star rating, but I do hope the new ownership can get a handle on maybe speeding up the food process. My family and I will still be back, because we love tamale man. Hopefully I can add the...

This review is based solely on today's visit. We LOVE the Tamale Man! We discovered their tamales and menudo a few years ago, despite being born and raised in El Sereno. It's literally THE best tamales and menudo we've ever had... So we were looking forward to our breakfast this morning. However, we were disappointed when the server told us that they've already sold out because a lot of people came in with their pots. We arrived right before 10am. So I ordered the costillas guisados and my husband ordered the tamale omelet. The tamale was under cooked, the beans had too much onion, and the rice was off. My costillas guisados were 3 ribs with salsa on top... Not guisados at all (see picture). Then we voiced our opinions, she admitted that "someone didn't order the things" needed for the menudo. This morning's experience was very disappointing. ... Maybe we'll wait a few months and give them...

I became a regular customer of Tamale Man approximately 4 months ago, I went there for the first time before the Holidays in 2021 to try their tamales, I told the lady who helped us, how I had been trying tamales from different places all over Los Angeles and Long Beach/Carson areas for several months, and I also explained to her that I HAD NOT, found any place that in my opinion made good tamales, she told me that she was sure that I would like their tamales and she was RIGHT!!!! I must have bought tamales from dozens of places and non of them made me come back for more, except for this place! Their tamales are the best tamales I have tasted outside of Mexico lol. If you want to enjoy the best tamales in Los Angeles, go to this restaurant, I been going there at lease once a week because I crave their delicious tamales, my favorite are the Beef...

Very friendly customer service, I tried their Tamales for the first time and I was very satisfied with the flavor and the amount of filling that was Inside the Tamales. I just had to come back and order a few dozens of the green chicken and red pork Tamales for Christmas Eve. If you want tasty Tamales that are a good size come here. They do accept debit and credit but I did notice that the transactions are a bit glitchy with the machine they use so if you can, make it easier for your self and for the restaurant and bring cash instead. I'll be here Christmas eve to pick up my order however I will be back even after Christmas. OH! One more thing! The Champurado is also Really good. Don't forget to get your self some to go along with your tamales. Update: 8/25/2023 Still the best place to get Tamales from. I also added a image of the current menu pricing.

Wow!! Those Tamales are off the HOOK DELICIOUS!! Cooked to the science, ( Tamale slid right out of the corn husks), got them back to the grubbing place in Temple City and still hot enough to eat. Walked in and Charlie, nice guy, chopped it up with my Son, and I. Pics to follow. The signage on the walls, family pictures, Mr Tamale Man himself, awards of sponsorships, acknowledgements through out the years. So, eplease come out, if you already know and come here for some great, honest, Mexican Food, spread the word for the Raza, and visit this Gem in the wall place on Eastern Ave in El Sereno see for yourself? The moral of my story is when all else fails...... Remember, go back to basics. My name is Chuy, aka Jesse Vara Viramontes signing off for now, for it's 5:20am, SGV time. Lol
