Neon Sun isnât just a restaurantâitâs an experience, infused with personality, passion, and a deep love for food. From the moment you walk in, the quirky decor and warm welcome let you know that thereâs a story behind every detail. This is a place meant for sharing, so gather at least four friends and prepare for a culinary adventure filled with creative, farm-to-table delights.
The menu is a rotating showcase of seasonal ingredients and unexpected flavor pairings. We started with the asparagus salad, where sweet persimmon played beautifully against the crisp, garden-fresh greens. Then came the Barbecue New Orleans-style oystersâbold, smoky, and packed with flavor, with herbs plucked straight from the hydroponic planters adorning the space.
But the showstopper? The peanut butter and jelly dessert. Our menu listed âElevated PB & J,â but since the season had changed, we were treated to a PB&J ice cream sandwich instead. The portionâtwo decadent sandwichesâwas enough for four people, but that didnât stop the two of us from diving in. Every bite was pure nostalgia, reimagined in the most indulgent way.
We left vowing to return with a bigger group to explore even more of the menu. And if you visit, donât miss the chance to ask Tori about Neon Sunâs storyâitâs as rich as the food itself. For an extra special treat, see if Chef Alex can step out of the kitchen for a chat. His passion is evident in every plate, and meeting him only deepens the appreciation for this gem of...
Read moreDining at The Neon Sun in San Pedro was an absolute pleasureâitâs a true hidden gem! This charming bistro is a wonderful surprise, featuring a chic interior filled with local art and a menu thatâs as inventive as it is delicious. Chef Alex skillfully blends Asian and Western influences in his creations, while co-owner Satori makes every guest feel at home.
The food is outstanding. The warm cabbage salad with Chinese sausage was a flavor-packed highlight, and we also savored the oysters, scallops, and ceviche. The ceviche, which pairs shrimp, scallops, dragonfruit, and sesame seeds, was easily one of my favorites.
A special off-menu beef dish from Alex was a delightful treatâit was absolutely delicious! With smaller portions designed for sharing and exploring, and prices that make trying multiple dishes easy, the dining experience here feels adventurous and accessible.
Though they donât serve alcohol yet, their BYOB policy without corkage fees is a thoughtful touch. Iâm thrilled to see San Pedro gaining another top-notch dining spot.
With its welcoming ambiance, bold flavors, and creative vision, The Neon Sun is an exciting addition to San Pedroâs food scene. Whether youâre a local or traveling through, itâs a must-visit for...
Read moreWe chose this place on recommendation from a friend. The exterior is unassuming and from the outside, the overhead lighting gave the impression of being kind of campy.
One inside, however, the atmosphere is actually cozy and eclectic. Different styles of chairs and tables, but somehow, it all seems to work. The settings are all made using different styles of utensils, but none of them were cheap. The serving dishes were stoneware that was very diverse and eclectic, but each was unique.
As for the food, this is not only one of the best restaurants in San Pedro, it holds its own as one of the best anywhere. The plates are small and designed to be shared if so desired, and there wasn't a single one that disappointed. Most of the evening was filled with "Ooohs," "Aaahs," and "Mmms."
To say that we'll be back is understatement...we can't wait to come back to try the dishes that we didn't get to!
We left fully satisfied, not overfull, and craving more--Can't recommend...
