I got married on the 22nd of Oct and as a after party me and around 16 guest decided to come to stoweaway as an after part after seeing great reviews but manly on its website and Google it states it’s open till 2am. However after getting their at 2250 the place was empty. We didn’t mind tho because they’re was 16 of us to spend money and liven the place up. Their was a live band initial who finished at 11 but agreed to stay on for tips however the 1 security guard told them they had to go home. This was the first red flag. After 15 mins of them leaving the security member who had his dog in the downstairs bar informed us that they are closing and turned it the music. This was at 0000, ber in mind both google and the bar website shows open to 0200. When we asked him why the place was closing so early he stated that they do every Sunday which didn’t seem the truth as the bartender stated they was open until 2 as the website suggested. However the security seemed to be intimidating the lone bar member into closing early, forcing her to turn the Music off and stating “if you turn it off they will leave”, referring to us. When we challenged him for closing early he was sexist to the females present calling the “babe” and shouting over them to be quiet, he refused to listen to them untill the website and licence for 0200 was brought up. He ended up waking away angry after being tipped $50. The bar still ended up closing over an hour early at 0050 instead of the advertised closing time of 0200 because it seemed the staff just wanted to go home. This was a horrible experience as me and my wife had just gotten married and aspected more from such a establishment. I recommend not going and finding somewhere else to go as this...
Read moreWent 3/3/2023 after dinner for a birthday celebration for my wife. We were accompanied by 5 of our friends. My wife asked the male bartender about the music choice. As we decided to leave a little man about 4ft tall comes out and approaches my wife introducing himself as the manager and asked what was going on because he was standing next to the bartender during their conversation. He stated she was yelling at the bartender “like a crazy person.” My wife is a 6’1” black female who was talking loudly because there was a DJ. We proceeded to leave instead of engaging with little man and spoke to their security at the door who apologized on his behalf. For perspective, we were the only black people in there. Needless to say, we won’t be returning due to stigmatized racial bias. Security...
