Just about every time I come to this side of town I stop by this incredible cafe. Few places deliver such good horchata lattes!
Update to review: I like Tierra Mia a great deal. Today the service was awful though. It was around 1030 am. The female cashier was lifeless and offered no smile or eye contact. In this part of town service like this is rare. So I’m dropping service to two stars and the overall stars go down one.
As a Latina a priority of mine is to support my community. Tierra Mia is a Latino/a owned business. I’ve been drinking Tierra Mia coffee for years and I believe they started horchata latte. It’s what I ask for always. This location does not have a parking problem but the mid sized lot gets full fast. At 930 am I was lucky to find a spot. There was a line to get coffee. Not too long and it went by quickly. This place is busy and lively. The decor is cool. I’ve never had issues at any Tierra Mia location with offerings or service. My iced horchata latte was as good as ever. The guayaba cheese pastry was good. Just wish they served the one without cheese. Their pastry case is pretty big and full of pastries. At some cafes you’re lucky if you find a pastry sometimes. My order was just $10.20. Not bad at all! Oh and they play great Latin pop and even rancheras in some locations!...
Read moreI ordered a latte from this location, and was waiting at the end of the bar for a little bit of a wait. They never called out my order, and just placed it at the counter. It seemed to be this way with a few orders as well, with them calling out every other order, but not bothering to make sure that they were interacting with their guests, or following through with their customer service.
When I noticed that quite a few people after me were being called out, I double checked to see if the order they had placed down without calling it out was in fact my order. It did turn out to be my order, and no apology for not calling it out was given either. Not the end of the world, but not quality service either.
I was at least hoping for my drink to be good (kind of hard to mess up a latte). Instead, what I received was a cup of milk with a splash of sub-par espresso (not even sure if they put the full shot in there, and if they serve double shots...then I can't even imagine what a single shot would taste like here). I won't be back unfortunately, but I hope they improve so that the community can enjoy their "strict focus on quality".
Side note: Very dirty as well, and several team members passed by the trash can in the lobby without bothering to...
Read moreI dont usually go to this location. I probably have gone about a handful of times. My usual go to's are with family to their Montebello/ City Terrace locations. I love Tierra Mia! But, the times I have gone to their Broadway location, the service is just strange. Today, that was highlighted! I ordered two cold brews, the cashier asked me if I wanted the cream blend or the cold brew, I said both cold brew. She seemed dismissive and talked to other customers or coworkers when taking my order. When my name was called, they were both the cream blends. I politely told the barista they were not supposed to be the blended but the cold brew. The barista took the drinks behind the bar, and seemed annoyed. I get it, I have worked customer service before and have had tough mornings. But, the attitude given was not okay. She made the drinks, called my name and told her coworker to give the drinks to anyone who would want them while looking annoyed. Im sorry, but I was not the one who got the drink order wrong, so the attitude was not needed. It made me upset and uncomfortable to receive this interaction. We all have bad days, but this location being consistently rude is not ok. AND I hate that most of the time its the girls! Hopefully it was...
