The Original Carnitas Michoacan — Restaurant in Los Angeles

Carnitas Michoacan is the kind of place that's 10/10 sober, but 20/10 drunk. A lot of what they have on the menu isn't the healthiest, but what do you expect when you decide to get food in Lincoln Heights? If you want healthy and organic Mexican food, Little Tokyo and the Arts District is right down the road.

As someone who's probably had Carnitas Michoacan hundreds and maybe thousands of times, these are the foods I would recommend:

ANYTHING WITH AL PASTOR. In my humble opinion, Carnitas has the best al pastor meat I have ever tried. I've been to a lot of Mexican joints, both cheap and expensive, but none are more delicious than Carnitas's al pastor. You can get it on tacos, nachos, quesadillas, and in burritos. Most people will get carne asada, but there are times when its dry and not that flavorful so it can be a hit or a miss.

NACHOS ESPECIAL & PAPAS NACHOS. I personally prefer the crunch of the normal nachos but whichever style nachos you get, you need to try it topped with rice, guacamole, onions, and cilantro. Make sure you confirm with the cashier because these are not toppings people normally get. You can thank me later. If you're okay with tripa, I would recommend getting that as your meat option but most of the time, I'll get my nachos with al pastor. The tripa is very flavorful and adds even more crunch to your nachos.

BURRITO. I normally don't recommend others to get the burrito, but when I do, it's for an al pastor burrito with nacho cheese. Yes, NACHO CHEESE. I have friends who began to crave this burrito after trying it once.

MENUDO. This is more of an acquired taste, but if you're into menudo like I am, I would highly recommend trying a bowl whenever the weather is chilly.

PRO TIP. If you're going to the Dodgers game but you don't want to pay for overpriced food, I've always grabbed a burrito and take it to the game. My wallet and I have always left happier...

I've been coming to this establishment for years. It was a hidden gem for us but after last night, I won't be supporting them anymore. I had a huge order so I called it in. They had me pay over the phone which is understandable since it was a large order. Over the phone I asked for a lot of salsa, the man hisself said "we're going to give you a ton of salsa" I got 16 burritos & nachos and they gave me 12 salsas. That's not even one per burrito. We go up ask for more, he gives us 4 more but seemed irritated. My brother goes for a drink refill, they charged for a refill. Before I left, I asked for more salsa to take for my 16 burritos. He goes "you're going to have to pay." I told him, I just spent $250 here and I couldn't even get one salsa per item. He says nachos normally don't need salsa. Still, we were not given even one per burrito!!! It's a big burrito and a tiny ass salsa container, way smaller than other places. One salsa is enough for half, you definitely need two for a whole burrito given how small they are. He ended up charging us $6 for 12 more salsas. I don't mind paying for things but it's the principle for me, they did not give enough to begin with, I didn't feel as if I was wanting an excessive amount, just enough to eat a full sized burrito. The attitude, the argumentative response, not giving enough to begin with. I've never had to feel like I was begging for condiments that are usually provided. They were giving stingy/greedy vibes. For spending $250 and having try so hard to get extra salsa left me never wanting to come back to this establishment. They charge for every...

It's nice to get a chance togo back and eat at the best taco spot in Los Angeles..doesn't matter if i go late at night after hours..early in the morning..late in the afternoon..this place is always hit..never disappoint..always have the best Carne asada..unlike most taco stand when asada Is all look like ground beef..you get stake slices of beef..always tenderize nice and juicy..then the pastor is rich in flavor..marinarated so long you can taste their flavor in every bite..compare to other taco stand their pastor is so dried up maybe didn't sell it all yesterday and just trying to sell what's left the next day pastor..it is so dried that's why you be seeing them serve it with a slice of pineapple..lol.. Is this a Hawaii BBQ or what..best quality food with an even better Prices..The Original Carnitas Michaocanas..If you don't want to go wait in line you can always call them first and place take out order on the phone and when you get there just walk up to the second window inside and tell them your name and you are good togo Yesterday I had 4 tacos with taxes and everything it came out to $11.00 2 asada tacos 2 pastor tacos..I know there might be spot with cheaper price tacos but I'm letting you know now if you try their taco here..you will never go no where else for taco...
