Why am I against the wind to give only 2 stars? This restaurant ruined our good mood and it may do the same to you as well.
I know every business is trying its best to grab more money out of its buyers and I am ok with that as long as it is legal and legitimate.
We stopped by today to have dinner here and we just realized the sneaky tricks this waiter (or restaurant) is using to "steal" money from us, and most likely, from everyone else as well.
The Mexican looking waiter (I forgot his name, James, maybe.) introduced himself and said he would serve us tonight. After a long time, he showed up to take our order and everything we ordered, he replied with "Good choice!"
Everything tasted good except I requested the bill AFTER paying, then I realized how he (or this restaurant?) is stealing from us, again, maybe from everyone they get a chance to?
First of all, the process of ordering food is already suspicious. You scan the barcode to read the menu, and you cannot order and submit yourself. So, in our case, the waiter came and took our order. Everything seemed fine so far.
The food was served with pretty much what we ordered. But we ordered 1 Arnold Palmer and 2 iced teas. He said iced tea could be refilled, but not Arnold Palmer. However, 3 glasses of drink looked identical and I thought he delivered all 3 with iced tea. I wanted to confirm with him, but he never showed up again.
When I ordered, I specifically told him, I like by the book, so follow the menu for Steak Frites with medium instead of medium rare.
Food was actually good. But I had to grab the table cleaner for water, pepper and salt and eventually bill. The guy never showed up again.
The 2nd thing I think the system is trying to steal from you is that, the new waiter simply said: your total is $240.92, all on the card? then he handed me the machine to sign and tip without any detail of our order such as subtotal, tax and items. After I paid, he asked: do you need your receipt? I suddently wanted to check our order (something I usually don't care too much about), then I found all these disgusting tricks (from my point of view) he or they used to extort more money out of your pocket without you knowing it.
Our iced teas were switched Arnold Palmer and it is $15 per glass. Except my wife, we wanted by the book for regular menu order, and he added both sauces for extra $2 from the rest of us.
He never showed up for anything else besides taking the order (also after a long time). When I paid, it was someone else (from the receipt, his name is Josh.), and he said the first waiter changed to serve the tables inside and he is taking over this area now. Well, he took over the payment only without doing anything else.
Not letting customer order online (I don't know why they only let you read without letting you order, so they can change the order without your consent?), not confirming the order; not providing detail bill before paying, not giving receipt proactively; and the outside seating, the chairs are the most uncomfortable ones I have ever sat on.
Again, food is good, and this is not a fine dining place even though the cost is pretty close. But today's service and discovery just made me feel so disgusting. I certainly can pay for the extra money, but I cannot accept the dishonest business practice. It just ruined the good mood that my family had after knowing all this.
I hope no one gets...
Read moreHad dinner here with some friends — it’s a beautiful location at the century city mall, beautiful interior and seating + table. Definitely a great place to catch up; the waiter was nice. The food was not great. We had fries to share for the table and first bite the fries were good but then realized they were sooo salty. Saltier than the normal fries. They were incredibly thin (which is okay, it’s like McDonald’s fries) but McDonald’s fries taste better than the fries we had. Some of the fries were also insanely small. The spicy mayo sauce was good though but the fries were overly salted. The dishes - my friends had the bowl, the mushroom pasta, and the sausage pizza. I had the burrata pizza. The presentation was good but right away you could tell the portion sizes were incredibly small. If you’re not hungry it might be the right size but it is a lot smaller than a normal dinner portion. We did ask the waiter how big the pizza was and in my head it was going to be a circle pizza cut up into 6 slices but he said they were “small bite sizes” — they really were. It felt more like an appetizer size, and it definitely isn’t enough food for one person. It’s pricey for the size and quality of the food. The pizza I had was over seasoned with paprika and spices, making it incredibly heavy flavored / salty. The bowl was also really salty, everything was salty / spicy and it wasn’t the best dining / tasting experience overall. Would not recommend this location — I would be open to trying the melrose location and other ones but this one was disappointing in terms of food/price...
Read moreFood was great. (Salads, steak, quiche, salmon….. all lovely). We had two waiters. The first waiter took way too long to return to our table. At one point we had to waive our first waiter down and when we did, in a rude tone he said “I’m done for the night someone else has you”. Note to Management: Please conduct a refresher training on how to properly hand your table over to another waiter???????? He didn’t even tell us he was leaving so it was news to us. He didn’t even brief the new waiter to tell him where in the dining process we were so the new waiter was completely lost when he came to the table not knowing we hadn’t ordered our main courses yet. He just brought us the check. We had so much more to order. I was embarrassed for the brand. Quite shocked. The first waiter killed the vibe a bit. The second waiter was nicer but also didn’t come back to the table often enough. We did end up ordering our entrees but we were never asked if we wanted something more to drink. We were never asked if we wanted dessert. The restaurant was empty so there is no excuse. Disappointed. So much effort is put into designing, building and launching restaurants. It was sad to see our guest experience tossed around. This is what makes guests decide to...
