White Castle — Restaurant in Louisville

Inexpensive, fast, and great fast food. White Castle is the only place I eat burgers without sauce. I order extra pickles on my sliders, and this combined with their size & their cooking process (they steam the onions to rehydrate them, then sit the bun on top of the burger while still on the flat grill) provide enough moisture that I don't find sauce necessary. White Castle is also the only place I prefer burgers (called sliders at WC) over cheeseburgers. I don't like their sliced cheese. I have had great experiences at this location. Most if not all WC's now carry Big Red on tap (as in from a keg) - a regional soft drink which tastes great but has zero caffeine and will stain if spilled. They also have an unusually large selection on their touch screen fountain drink machine. Like all WCs, the drive thru and lobby are open 24/7. Their small size cups are equal to or bigger than other places medium size. Their menu has expanded quite a bit in the last couple of years. They have breakfast items, smoothies, and desserts as well as the lunch/dinner fare. If you are unfamiliar with WC, that includes small little square burgers that come with pickles and rehydrated onions on them, chicken rings (divine with their honey mustard) fries, cheese fries, onion rings and more.

This location, like most White Castles, is clean. The customer service is great, as it should be at a fast food that has a union for it's employees. (They used to pay much more than competitors, but I am confused as I just out that new hires at an inner city location is making $12/hr - the same starting wage they had at their East End store in 2006)

WC customers have long been encouraged to call their hotline 1-800-YOU-CRAVE for any reason at all. Literally it used to say call to chat, etc. I've called twice, once to complain and once to compliment, and I received awesome free meal...

Food is always good, but the service was pretty cruel as far as being considerate or thoughtful about the customers. So as I've found out, most White Castle locations do not have Duesseldorf mustard anymore due to issues... that's all they would tell me and had such unprofessional verbiage and grammar. But I wanted to know WHY they don't have it any longer, she was just frustrated. So I called a few other stores to find out that many stores NEVER answer their phone or return calls. But one place answered, again only a few great locations for most places nowadays. So what I found out by a nice lady who answered the phone at this location... she said only the packets are not being shipped put from the warehouse right now, she added, "We are known for our Duesseldorf, why wouldn't we jave any in the store? Just ask us to give you a container of mustard like we do a cup of cheese. " I'm speechless because I love this stuff and I haven't had it in soooo long, all because not one employee around these areas care to give a customer mustard.... so to the customers, let me do this on behalf of White Castle employees... Simply ask for a cup...

White Castle pick up DOORDASH Delivery. Always a pleasure. Friendly staff, excellent service and food. 5 stars UPDATE 7/18/22 Stopped into the Outer Loop and Preston Hwy location this day on a personal order. #1 4 Sliders , a fry, a drink combo. Substituted onion rings for the fries, and added cheese to the 4 Sliders, and had a Coca-Cola for the beverage. Well, the combo meal was excellent, the service quick and order handed out to me with a attitude of tired but hadn't lost her social attitude of doing a great job with the hello and small talk...well, that was my attempt at and not doing my usual chatty (no, not Cathy, naw) Witty exchange. Tired and still amicable? I sometimes am, most likely less chatty, more likely all grumped up amicable -"less" or absent. That's what impressed me most here this visit. All around and across 5 stars. The lot, restaurant, and everything seen was clean without any litter anyplace. Food was as it should be and these days it's a humongously happy stomach and attitude it causes. Thank you all for that at this...
