What an incredible experience! From the moment we stepped into this beautifully restored chophouse on historic Whiskey Row, we knew we were in for something special. Our server Jaq was absolutely outstanding – attentive, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations throughout the evening. The service was impeccable from start to finish. The food was nothing short of perfection. We indulged in the Tomahawk and Ribeye steaks, both cooked to absolute perfection with that ideal char and tender, juicy interior. The salmon was flaky and flavorful, and the scallops were succulent. The pork was expertly prepared, and every single side dish complemented the mains beautifully. We couldn't resist sampling three different desserts, and each one was a masterpiece, especially the strawberry ice cream – the perfect sweet ending to an already amazing meal. The bourbon flight was a highlight, showcasing some exceptional selections that paired wonderfully with our dinner. The wine selection was equally impressive, and our server helped us choose the perfect glass to complement our feast. What truly set this evening apart was the personal touch from the manager, I believe his name was Teddy, who was incredibly friendly and took the time to give us a fascinating tour of the historic property and speakeasy. Learning about the building's rich history while seeing the impeccable renovations made the experience even more memorable. The attention to detail in preserving the historic character while creating a modern, luxury dining atmosphere is remarkable. This dinner was the perfect capstone to our visit to Louisville – such an iconic and vibrant city. Monk's Road Boiler House exceeded every expectation and created memories we'll treasure forever. If you're looking for an exceptional dining experience that combines outstanding food, top-notch service, and a truly unique historic setting, this is an absolute must-visit. We can't...
Read moreThis dining experience did not disappoint. We were lucky enough to have a reservation on the third night they were open. The intimate ambience of the broiler house style dining area sets the stage for a truly memorable culinary experience. The cocktail menu offered uniquely curated libations that pair well with everything from a 4 course meal to an after work cocktail hour. The wait staff were very knowledgeable on the menu and provided detailed descriptions of the ingredients and their origins. Pairing recommendations for the food and beverage offerings were offered to personalize each guests experience.
Our dining experience began with a beautifully seasoned meatball appetizer in a balanced and smooth marinera. The texture of the arancini's crispy outer shell paired nicely with the smooth and creamy cheese filling. The "end of summer salad" is both colorful and refreshing with its sweet fruity ingredients. From scratch pasta dishes are hard to come by in Louisville. Having 4 distinct styles of fresh pasta offered side by side with a full chophouse menu allows for a diverse variety of options that creates a more inclusive menu for parties containing guests that may not typically gravitate towarda a tradiontal steakhouse. Not to say that the 42oz Tomahawk wasnt the pièce de résistance to round out our meal. Its presentation is certainly a picture worthy plating but does not do the tenderness and flavor justice. Its sized perfectly to be shared amongst a 2-4 person dining party or by a single true carnivore looking for a challenge.
Overall this new downtown restaurant provided an indelibl dining experience that will surely become a staple of the downtown culinary and foodie scene. Would highly recommend making a reservation next time you have an occation to celebrate, want a nice afterwork cocktail/dinner or just need an excuse to go out and want to try a new spot. Monks Road Broiler House will...
Read moreI went to the restaurant the first time and had an amazing experience. The filet was cooked perfectly, and the cut of meat was superb. The papperadella past was amazing and the hollandaise sauce that accompanied the asparagus was probably the best I've eaten. However, the biscuits, even though very tasty, were far too dry. My second visit however, did not go so well. It's hard for me to give the food a 2 star, because the composition was spectacular and the mash potatoes were heavenly, but I got the Pichana steak and ordered it medium. The steak, which is similar to skirt steak, was cooked to rare the first time. Cooked to medium rare after sending it back, and finally cooked to medium the third time. My server brought out the wrong wine to the table. The Panna Cotta, which is suppose to be smooth, came out with a texture similar to rice pudding....which means the cook used too high a heat during preparation. Chef Cirro (please forgive if I misspelled) was very nice the first visit and came to the table on the second. However, on the second visit he seemed more bothered by my objections to the inadequate preparations of my $170 meal, than empathetic. I want to like the biscuits, they taste great, but they are sooooo dry.
I will not go back. If a place wants to have a price point where Monks Road sits, then the chef should inspect every dish that comes out of his kitchen, because he is personally responsible for the cooks that work under him. If I gave a recommendation to a friend, and they had the experience that I did the second time, I would be extremely...
