Decided to eat at Pho Ba Luu based on the type of food and the restaurant look as we drove by. The atmosphere was nice and played good chill music. The two staff members were amazing with their customer service skills. Made a suggestion and were engaged with us. The bill was $50..prices were way too high. We figured it must be really good though. Unfortunately, not the case. We ordered spring rolls for $6 and they served us 2 tiny rolls...the flavor was amazing!! But 2..tiny rolls. Not happy. Then we ordered another kind of roll, it was bad in every way. The exterior was like a chewy piece of rubber filled w unflavored over cooked ramen noodles and some cold chunks of pork. Didn't even eat it because it was that yucky. Also ordered a noodle bowl w beef. Again, it was a bowl of overcooked ramen noodles w some brown colored bland sauce. The few pieces of meat in the bowl was the only good part about it, but there were only four pieces. Didn't eat it all and did not bring it home. Then had a chicken curry bowl, the only good thing about the meal. We shared that one bowl. So, we basically spent $50 on a bite size spring roll and a small bowl of chicken curry. They had flyers to vote them as #1 restaurant in the area...I did not cast that vote. Sadly, if I had to vote..I would've voted closer to the worst restaurant. Being that was my first visit there, I have to be honest...I would not visit there again nor would I suggest going there. There are so many places just blocks down the road...go to any of those...
Read moreWe tried this restaurant based off of an Instagram promoter. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. We decided to sit at the bar. Atmosphere was better in the bar area. I asked for grapefruit juice and vodka they didn’t have it, asked for a lemon drop martini, they could not make that either. My husband asked for one of the beers on tap but the keg wasn’t working. I ended up getting a daiquiri off their cocktail menu and it was good. Husband got a different beer. We ordered spring rolls as an appetizer. They came out dark brown/black. You could tell they had been fried a long time ago and then fried again to serve to us. Heavy grease feel. I got the Pho with beef and vegetables. The broth was almost as flavorful as a liter of water with a teaspoon of bullion. Almost. The accompanying ingredients were served to me in a wax paper bag (lime, fresh jalapeño, sprouts) on the side. My husband got garlic noodles with chicken. The noodles were sticky and overcooked. Tasted like a grocery store bought Lipton soup noodle meal. Chicken was almost non existent. Portions small. Which was fine because the food was below mediocre. Sadly would definitely not recommend. Many other places to get good...
Read moreI had eaten their food before on a semi regular basis through Postmates, and it was incredible. So I brought my mother in to celebrate mother's day with her, and it was amazing. I am always going to go there in person from now on. The interior is super chic and the back patio area is so beautiful (and super Instagramable). The staff are super friendly, nice to talk to, and the manager (I think she was the manager or owner, not sure) was so kind, and passionate about serving fresh good food.
I had ordered extra pho noodles to go with the leftover broth I had from my beef pho (which is amazing, I highly recommend it), and she kindly informed me that if I took cooked noodles with me and reheated them, they would only end up soggy and she just wanted to make sure I had a good experience with fresh ingredients, so she asked if it was okay if she gave me uncooked ones and gave me the instructions on how to cook them (it turned out bomb). I am so so happy with the experience there, and will return on a regular basis (that my student budget will...
