Safier Mediterranean Deli, situated in Louisville, KY, offers a satisfying experience of Mediterranean cuisine. During my recent visit, I sampled their chicken shawarma, beef shawarma, and kafta kabab. While the food was decent overall, there were a few areas that could benefit from attention.
Starting on a positive note, the chicken shawarma, beef shawarma, and kafta kabab were enjoyable. The chicken shawarma was tender and infused with delightful spices, while the beef shawarma provided a succulent and well-seasoned meat experience. The kafta kabab, although not as impressive as the shawarmas, still offered a satisfactory taste.
However, one downside was the peculiar smell inside the establishment. The presence of an unpleasant odor detracted from the overall dining experience. Addressing this issue would significantly enhance the comfort and ambiance of the restaurant.
Furthermore, the interior could use a facelift. While the food may take center stage, an inviting atmosphere can greatly enhance the enjoyment of a meal. Updating the decor, refreshing the seating arrangements, and investing in a more modern and appealing aesthetic would contribute to a more pleasant dining environment.
Despite these shortcomings, the service at Safier Mediterranean Deli was commendable. The staff members were friendly and attentive, ensuring a smooth and efficient dining experience. Their knowledge of the menu and willingness to accommodate special requests added to the overall positive impression.
In conclusion, Safier Mediterranean Deli offers a tasty journey through Mediterranean flavors, with their chicken shawarma, beef shawarma, and kafta kabab delivering satisfactory taste experiences. However, improvements in addressing the odd smell within the establishment and updating the interior would greatly elevate the overall dining experience. With attentive service and enjoyable dishes, Safier Mediterranean Deli remains a viable option for those seeking Mediterranean cuisine in...

Working where I do, on those days that you didn't bring your lunch or want something different Safier is often that place. Sure, there are other lunch places within less than a ten minute walk, but Safier is definitely a standout. Quite possibly THE BEST lunch on Fourth Street.
First thing's first, if you go between 11:00 and 1:00 on a weekday this place is going to be busy. Very busy. It's not uncommon for the line to order to be out the door. While a number of eateries may find that intimidating, Safier is such a well-oiled machine that they don't even think about it. It's not uncommon to see 8 to 12 people working a lunch rush, each one hurriedly but focusedly (?) working to get orders out accurately and efficiently.
Safier is not a huge restaurant, sporting maybe 12-16 tables, but with the large percentage of takeout orders and the table turnaround, you seldom find yourself wanting for a table.
The menu isn't extensive, but what is on it is solid. My personal favorite is the Beef Shawarma Sandwich. It's just the right size (and, at about $6, the right price) for a quick lunch. I don't know what kind of magic they do, but the beef is A-Maz-Ing. The Greek Salad is an excellent choice for lunch, too.
The machine that is Safier is amazing to watch. -Place your order at the counter -Sit down (or stand to the side if you're picking up carryout) -The wheels start to turn and the people on the line crank out great food. -Listen closely -When your number is called one of the staff will bring the food to your table (or where you may be standing) -BOOM amazing food is upon you.
Having visited Safier a couple dozen times, I have never had to wait more than five minutes for my food. The staff is always hustling and will to answer questions. The atmosphere is "quick workday lunch, but MAN, is this food DEElicious!"
Go here. Seriously. The only regret you'll have is that the meal has to end.

Read moreThe food here is really good, and the employee serving us was also awesome and really easy to talk to! It's a little shop that doesn't serve anything extravagant, but what they do make they make well. I tried chicken shawarma plate (with vegetables and rice), beef shawarma, pita, and baklava.
The chicken shawarma was quite good. I thought they gave you an adequate amount of chicken, which was nicely spiced and had a pretty good texture. They give you a ton of rice with your main meal, and it's pretty tasty rice as well. Nice little salad there too, which was refreshing.
I really loved the sauce that came with the chicken shawarma. Garlicky, a little bit creamy, and just overall delicious. I even used the sauce for the rice! The beef shawarma came with a tahini-based sauce, which was a bit more acidic, but I still loved it. The beef was more tough than the chicken, though.
They gave me a complimentary pita with my order, which was really nice. It was a pretty average pita, but can't complain since it's free
I was really looking to try their namura, but unfortunately they had sold out of it before I got there. So I had the baklava instead. It was okay, but not syrupy or sweet enough for my taste. Good amount of walnuts though.
All in all, this is a great Mediterranean spot near the downtown Louisville Embassy Suites (walking distance). The meat is great, and so are the sides. The people are kind and the food is...
